The Boys is based on the comic book series of the same title by Garth Ennis. If you're familiar with the comic series -- for that matter, if you're familiar with any of Garth Ennis's work like Preacher or his run on Punisher -- you'll know this is a dark, cynical, R-rated take on superheroes:

Aya Cash is pretty much a perfect casting for this show. She was terrific in the first three episodes.

Also very pleasantly surprised at some of the directions the plot has taken so early in the season. A lot of shows would have drawn them out for an entire season.
 
Also didn’t watch any trailers so had no idea Giancarlo Esposito was in S2 which was a massive pleasant surprise.
 
Most oof the way through s2e1 and i can't believe they named a character "stormfront" and had instagram comments saying, "stormfront will save america"
