And if so how did you get it?

Pretty much everyone here goes by a nickname here.

Mine is Pockets. I got it because the first day at this location, I walked up to meet everyone with my hands in my pockets. Very creative bunch. It has evolved to Pocket Man with some. They give it the Elton John spin when calling me on the radio.

My favorite nickname here is one that I gave that stuck even though I’m sure I’m the only one that gets the reference. Original nickname was Molly(part Maxie, part Polly, a combination the last names of two of her uncles that used to work here). I changed to to Red Molly because she has red hair and she’s a haul truck driver, and the loader man’s name is James, so every time she talks to him, in my mind I can sing “Says Red Molly to James”, the opening line to one of my favorite songs.

Had a nickname when I had a job. Had it all my life.

Fish.

When I was a kid I was Little Fish and dad was Big Fish. Dad was also sometimes referred to as Undercoat because of what he carried under his coat in case of trouble.

Then when I had a son he got called Little Fish and I was Big Fish. Now we're both just Fish since we don't hang in the same circles.

Every group I’m ever around calls me something different. My family is the only group that calls me by my real name. Hell, Friday they were bringing in food for all of us and the office lady, who none of us ever see was taking everyone’s order on the radio, and she called for a “Michael” and at first I was like “who the fuck is Michael” before realizing she was talking to me

I worked alone most of my career. I was listening to the voices in my head then.
Most of my career my work nickname was Boss.

My friends and family have used a shortened version of my name for as long as I can remember.
All of my co-workers call me by my full first name, except for one. He uses the correct nickname that my friends/family use and it's kinda strange hearing it in that environment sometimes.
