Man, I absolutely hated choppin wood when I was a kid. But I would welcome it today, as a means of getting out some of my pent-up aggressionThat's a truck load of busted wood, stacked and everything. I used to do it all the time. Haven't done it in a few years and it showed today. To be fair, it was always a lot cooler outside when I used to do it than it was today.Man, I absolutely hated choppin wood when I was a kid. My dad always made us do it in the dog days of August, when the wood was driest, he said. I about passed out every time. At least there were four of us boys, though, so the work got spread aroundI used to do it all the time. Haven't done it in a few years and it showed today. My great uncle is finally starting to show his age. He usually slowly builds his woodpile up throughout the year, but he can barely walk now, and his pile was pretty thin. Not enough to get him through the winter, but it's a good start. His kids and grandkids can step the fuck up though. Next time I do it, and they're not there to help, they're gonna rent me a wood splitter.
Never had to split it, but every fall, we'd get a cord dumped on the driveway and we'd have to stack it on the side of the house. I'd rather pull goddamn weeds. That shit sucked, especially with a gaggle of girls doing it all.Man, I absolutely hated choppin wood when I was a kid. My 77 year old grandpa was gonna go over there and do it for his older brother. I said fuck that.
Oh, don't even get me STARTED on the weed pulling.Never had to split it, but every fall, we'd get a cord dumped on the driveway and we'd have to stack it on the side of the house. I'd rather pull goddamn weeds. That shit sucked, especially with a gaggle of girls doing it all.
That's a really good deal. Under 300 bucks, if it lasts one Winter, you get your money's worth. I don't burn firewood, but it would save me from swinging a go devil when an elderly relative needs firewood.![]()

Not only did we have to weed the garden veggies, but we had to pull up weeds all over the rest of the property. It was only about 17 acres.

I've never had a wood splitter, I always just assumed the low end would be over a grand for one. This is really good info. There's a hydraulic one that is a buck 25. If the wood is small enoughyou could use that. I'm definitely too fucking lazy to be doing that shit the old way.

For us, it was clean the house (you got a bathroom, the kitchen, vacuuming/dusting, matching socks or refolding everything in the linen closet) or get outside and pull weeds. I would get started in the house, but someone always fell for the Pledge on the hardwood floors trick, so I'd get kicked outside and have to pathetically pull weeds and the others already snagged all the tools, so I'd have to do it by hand. Some childhood Flashbacks reading this <shudders>
Saturday was clean the house day. And one night every week each kid had to wash the dishes and clean up after dinner. But when it was your night, you got to take a shower last, so you didnt have anybody pounding on the door telling you to hurry up and save some hot water. For us, it was clean the house (you got a bathroom, the kitchen, vacuuming/dusting, matching socks or refolding everything in the linen closet) or get outside and pull weeds.
