70's and 90's.
2021Mid 90's were pretty bad for my Cards.
correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't that 1994 royals team not too shabby? they had some pudgy rookie that year that was lighting it up, can't remember his name. but i remember, before that strike, the royals were actually a fun team to watch.George Brett's retirement to the hiring of Dayton Moore (so 94-06). Rarely competitive and never made much of any attempt to retain any of our best talent past their rookie contracts.
Yeah but they still finished 3rd in the division. That was the beginning of an era for us where the fan base felt like the ownership wasn't interested in winning. Mind you we had some good to great players in that era too. We didn't have another winning season until 2003 and then 2013 after that!correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't that 1994 royals team not too shabby? they had some pudgy rookie that year that was lighting it up, can't remember his name. but i remember, before that strike, the royals were actually a fun team to watch.
edit: bob hamelin! . . . that's the name of the rookie i was thinking of . . .and i just looked it up, but i'd forgotten that the royals had both kevin appier and david cone pitching that season. they finished 64-51 before the strike began.
The most disappointing years for me as a Red Sox fan were the mid to late 70's when they had a power house team and couldn't win the division because of the Evil Empire and running into the Big Red Machine the one time they did make it to the WS![]()

I think he had a very good case for the 1993 NL CYA over McDowell.
