Fair or Foul: On or Over the Line?

In the infield, a baseball is considered fair or foul depending on where it comes to rest or is first touched by a fielder.
Now let’s take the case of a ball rolling up the third base line. If part of the ball is over the foul line (but isn’t actually touching the line on the ground) when the fielder touches it, would you consider that a fair or foul ball?
I think I know the answer, but I wanna read your takes. I’ll make my argument later in the thread.
 
I can't say for sure that a stitch wasn't on the chalk.

But it doesn't really matter now that the Mets came back and won other than Rojas probably has a suspension coming for aggressively bumping the umpire.
 
Wait, what am I missing? Isn't the chalk foul? How isn't that clearly foul?

Chalk is fair, if any part of the ball is touching any part of the chalk, it's fair. Bunts that die on the chalk are fair. Line drives down the line that kick up chalk when they land are fair.

I think so too, but I can't say with 100% certainty, and even if that play were reviewable, there's no way it could have been overturned. Jomboy is right though, that's way too close to just swat the ball nearly into the dugout.

If you believe in karma(I don't) it was a foul ball because the Mets came back and won the game and even got out of a bases load, 0 out jam without allowing a run later in the game.

If the fielder touches it while foul, then it's foul.

If a fielder touches the ball and the ball is touching any part of the chalk it's a fair ball. If the fielder touches the ball and it's on the foul side of the chalk without touching the chalk it's a foul ball.

Yeah, but it looked to me like it never touched the line.
