Because it's looking like their revenues are going to take a hit, maybe half of what they have now.
How are these schools going to keep paying the Coaching Salaries that they do.
Lots of other things in those budgets will have to get the axe too.

And will the Coaches just accept it, or...........They Gone???

What does that future look like, and if Coaches bolt to new jobs, where do they go???

Do you think it will even be 1/2 of what they make now? I'm not a media expert but I would think it would drop down to a figure closer to the top G5 conference payouts...maybe a little higher. But, without OU and Texas, it seems the remaining schools only have a little more viewer appeal than the AAC schools. Kansas hoops, Baylor's recent success in hoops...what else?

Good points.
I think that their revenues will drop substantially, and also think their Coaches Salaries will also have to drop a lot too.

Probably pay them around what the PAC pays.

thanks Larry Scott.
I think their revenue will drop way below what the PAC gets. But, like I said, I'm no media guy so I could be wrong.

This is an arms race or a "keeping up with the Jones'" situation. At some point you just can't keep up with the Jones' financially. Schools with Knight/Pickens type set ups can...at least for a while. And that big Houston supporter found a way to pay ole crazy hair enough to lure him from the couch burners.

In reality, it isn't even equal among all the Jones' either. We've seen the list ad nauseum about which schools "earn" the most via athletics. Huge differences in total revenue.

They got until 2025 to get it figured out.

I do think TX/OU will be held to the $76 million buyouts each.
Someone in Dallas was looking out for the little guy when they incorporated in Delaware to avoid the tejas 'sovereign immunity' card.

Is Matt Campbell going to take a 50% reduction in salary?
Is Mike Gundy going to take a 50% reduction in salary?

I don't see it.

How would most coaches react if their team was suddenly demoted from MLB to AAA, or lower? Coaches like Campbell and Gundy think being a AAA coach is beneath them. There's your answer. Yeah the money plays a role too but their self image is what drives them.

Boosters pay the coaches salaries (and buyouts) so it depends. Are big money donors going to walk away because of the prestige hit or will they double down because they are pissed? Could really go either way honestly.

Plus there are a lot of moving parts right now. The big question is how to fund current staffing levels in the AD and support minor sports. If other conferences look to expand most (nor you baylor) will be fine. If other conferences stand pat, then it becomes a problem.

I don't think everyone is going to have to take a 50% cut across the board. TV money isn't the only way ADs create revenue. But it's going to have an impact in the long term ability to invest in their programs.

they (UT/ou) won't be playing in the Big12 for the '22 season

Word is that UT and ou would pay the fee rather than stay.. but there's confidence that it won't come to that. Some other shoes are about to drop and the conference implodes

Yeah.... Can I find that info on some nobody's tweeter account looking for clicks and followers? LOL

Big XII gonna be a G5 league in football without Texas/OU

Once UT/ou formally tells the Big12 that it has not intentions or re-upping.. schools will then have the ammo to bolt too. They aren't going to stay to ensure UT/ou pay them for leaving them.. If they have a legit spot in another P4 conference, they will jump on it

I'm sure I've already seen tweets from 'nobody's in the know' saying that's already been done.

Positive of it.
