Texas Tech and Oklahoma State are the best available options.

BYU won't get an offer because they are a mediocre program, don't expand the footprint and make ridiculous scheduling demands.
lol you talk about byu being mediocre while bringing up Texas tech.

USC and Stanford have set games against ND annually.

They key needs to be getting a schedule agreement with the Big Ten to make sure the high profile teams in each conference are getting matched up for TV purposes. I know this is something that's been discussed.

USC won't have any problems and USC doesn't need to travel to get big games. I am thinking more in the line with Oregon State, Washington State, Arizona, etc. as well as a method to increase viewership. There needs to probably be some quality OOC wins to get Pac12 respect. Granted, an undefeated Pac12 Champion will be in the Playoff.

TT at least brings you a new market. That said, you're probably right about that. Which is why the PAC will probably stay put.

The PAC's problem hasn't been respect IMO. Anytime the PAC 12 champion has finished with 1 loss, they've made the CFP. So far nobody has made the CFP with two losses so there's no reason to think the PAC 12 Champ has a chance if they have more than 1 loss.

UW made it in 2016 when their toughest OOC game was Rutgers.

TCU does not equal Dallas. Texas Tech probably has a bigger presence in DFW than TCU does
IT DOES NOT MATTER what presence tcu has there. They are still there. It allows cable companies to charge people regardless if they watch or not. It’s exactly why the B1G added Rutgers and Maryland. For their markets.

I agree with grabbing tech but tcu is not a bad get given how they have been in football these last 10 years and the market they reside in.

Here's the difference.

Maryland undergrad population - 30,184
Rutgers - 35,656

TCU is still under 10K.

They just don't have the alumni base

Thinking it’s about alumni base is humorous.

The PAC should be proactive grabbing decent football schools in good markets. TCU does that.

There is a phrase "Perception is Reality". You are correct that the facts don't always win and Pac12 doesn't look that bad in the scheme of things. However, the Perception is that the Pac12 isn't as good (I think it is more due to low fan support than actual results on the field). Playing extra Pac12 games won't help that. Playing more non-conference opponents will. This is where BYU and Boise State can help without having them in your league. Both are respected programs and beating them OOC is a quality win.

But again, there hasn't been a year where the PAC 12 got left out because a lack of respect. That hasn't been the main problem. The main problem has been the PAC champion has had at least 2 losses and that eliminated them from playoff contention.

Playing less conference games = less guaranteed losses. That's why the PAC 12 is going to move to 8 conference games IMO.

Well neither of us are in charge, thankfully. From what I've heard, there's zero chance the PAC 12 even considers TCU. I've laid out why that's the case. You can choose to reject it but it won't change reality.

I already get B1G, SEC, and LHN. Can't say I've watched any of them outside of the SEC when it was carrying live baseball games.
As far as I know youtubeTV doesn't carry pac 12 network, so you might have a point there. But I wouldn't change my service just to get that, doubt many TCU alums would either.

Hell, I haven't dropped YTTV for not carrying FSSW (Bally sports SW, whatever) so sure wouldn't for a college regional. :)

Neither does HULU in it's midrange package and they have the most diverse sports package I've found in streaming services. The day the ACC Network was launched in Aug 2019 it was added to HULU.

The PAC 12 Network was launched in Aug 2012 and it's not available?

As you said, neither of us are in charge. So while I respect your opinion, I just don’t agree with it.

I do think the PAC should be proactive on this and look into 4 of the B12 orphans I mentioned. Not quite sure who else there is. But again, that’s my opinion.

I agree that TCU probably doesn't offer anything. However, Pac12 probably does need new teams. The issue is that there isn't much for you guys to add for true quality. Boise State and BYU are great for football but they still aren't Oregon or USC. They might be on par with adding Utah. They will be competitive but won't dominate.

Larry Scott badly screwed up distribution for the PAC 12 Network. Unfortunately, that won't be fixed until 2024.

I agree that there aren't a whole lot of expansion opportunities for the PAC 12 right now. That's why I think they're going to stay at 12 for now.

That seems to have been a priority for Oregon to lead by example.

Oregon and USC are the two schools pushing for change in the PAC. USC already has an annual agreement to play ND. Oregon is trying to get a similar kind of deal, even if it's not always the same team.
