Dad had another mini-stroke yesterday afternoon. He doesn't call 911, he calls me as I'm 35 miles away. He called my aunt yesterday morning and told her he wasn't feeling well but didn't bother telling me so I could make plans to not be 35 miles away.

...and then he had another last night during the night. Pissed himself and the bed.

He's fortunate that the loss of left arm and leg are only temporary at this point, after having at least 3 mini-strokes that I know of.

He won't listen to me. He won't go to the emergency room or call his doctor.

Seriously thinking of checking out of giving a fuck.
Old people are weird.

Sounds like something my dad would do, too. Except hopefully after nearly dying he changes a little.

It could be anywhere from 20 to 100 miles.

Not being a halfwit that deals only in absolutes, I would recognize a 40-mile trip as not being "right next door". Keep on keeping on, boo.
40 mile trip is less than a half hour here.

Sounds right next door to me.

I knew what you meant. He took you literally....

Who measures distance in miles?

Use hours/minutes like a normal

The bastard ended up in the hospital for the first time in his 76 years earlier this month.

Went to town and on the way back had a stroke...vertigo, lost most of his vision and the use of his left arm and leg. Somehow was able to pilot his car back to his place and was trying to get in his door, couldn't fish his keys out of his left jeans pocket...miraculously his neighbor 4 doors up had called an ambulance earlier as he himself was feeling bad. The EMTs were on their way to his neighbor's place when they came across my dad having a stroke in his doorway. They immediately started working on him.

He hasn't seen a doctor since he was in the military 58 years ago.

Now he has 4 prescriptions to take every day and has to actually go to his doctor he's had since he's been on Medicare for 11 years, on top of a trip to the cardiologist.

I care, but am quickly preparing to wash my hands of the entire affair. :gaah: :gaah: :gaah:
