Big 12 thread

if the SECN puts Texas baseball on, I'll be watching it for sure like I did when it was on LHN

Was reading some more whiny ass letters to the sports editor this morning from Oklahoma State fans about OU leaving the Big XII and how Jr. should freeze us out of playing them anymore.

Question: Wouldn't it be smarter for Jr. to want OU to win SEC championships in different sports after OSU had beaten Oklahoma's goat smelling ass in Bedlam games? That can't happen unless we are playing each other. I would think someone at OSU will figure that out before they burn any bridges. That's the best way I can think of to make Oklahoma State a great addition to any other conference.

Do Sooner fans want to keep that game a la Georgia/Georgia Tech, Clemson/SCAR, etc?

They are like the Crazy AF Ex-Wife

Also same for OU softball.

Or even baseball. OU's not Texas but they do have 2 CWS titles.
10 CWS appearances (all time) with the last being in 2010.

OU and TX basketball both bring that to the table as well.

A Win/Win for the SEC in adding them.

I'm not sure it is.
I'd rather schedule lots of other teams than just 2 all the time.

I could see OU/Okie Jr being a permanent late Nov game.

SEC does a lot of OOC scheduling late Nov. Mostly FCS cupcakes to tune up for their rivalry games (Bama/Auburn) though.
Georgia/Ga Tech. Clemson/SCAR, Florida/Florida St being the outliers.

Isn't that what Texas did with A&M when they bolted?

Yes. Part of that is to salve the wounds caused by the split. There are a lot of politicians with an axe to grind if something isn't done to calm things down. And the fans want it too.

I'd think the media rights contract would prefer it too.

More so than the late November match-ups like.........

Bama vs Western Carolina (2019)
Bama vs Citadel (2018)
Bama vs Mercer (2017)
Bama vs Chattanooga (2016)
Bama vs Charleston Southern (2015)
Bama vs Western Carolina (2014)
Bama vs Chattanooga (2013)
Bama vs Western Carolina (2012)
Bama vs Georgia Southern (2011)
Bama vs Georgia State (2010)

Logic rarely wins in modern day America. Sad thing is, most Americans don't even understand logical arguments and will argue emotional arguments citing them as logic.

The only place to catch regular season SEC baseball is typically on SEC Network (every once in a while, one of the bigger games maybe on ESPN2, ESPNU, or one of the Fox Sports stations).

Logic and emotion are two different things.

Personally I don't have an issue continuing the series for basketball and Olympic events (we'd gladly continue wrestling I'm sure) but football is a different animal. We can't win right now as things presently stand that isn't likely to change. That being said, if it's something we can leverage to find a decent landing spot then it might be worth it.

If the football series is to continue it needs to be played in September though. Our biggest disadvantage in Bedlam is it always happens late in the year. People in the conference beat OU in September and early October because everyone is healthy. The further in the season we get, teams without depth get banged up and that creates an advantage you guys have had for quite a while. You look at our last two Bedlam wins-one was a historically great team for us that managed to stay relatively healthy and the other was what seems like the only time in the last 15 years or so your starting quarterback was hurt. Those aren't coincidences.

To answer your question though, I want what's best for Oklahoma State. If it is to our benefit for you to be good, so be it. But I'll laugh my ass off when Bama and LSU run a train on you guys back to back weeks.
