GAME Nebraska @ #3 Oklahoma | 11:00am | FOX

On the long touchdown run Johnny Rogers made against OU in the 1971 game, the OU coaching staff exploded when a clipping penalty was not called against Nebraska.

Here's what happened. The great Johnny Rogers juked and then headed up the OU sideline like Jesus on a go-kart. OU's Everett Marshall, who was the fastest guy in the Big 8 and ran pro track after graduation, was gaining on Rogers like a mofo and would have taken him down somewhere between the 10-15 yard line. But Joe Blahak came from across the field and hit Marshall in the back which left Rogers free to score the TD. On film it happens in the blink of an eye so it is not surprising the officials missed it. And there was no instant replay in 1971 so the touchdown stood. We can all wonder what might have happened if the penalty had been called. Nebraska might have scored a touchdown later anyway. Or OU could have held them to a field goal or maybe even not allowed any points on the possession. Who knows? For sure, a penalty was missed.

Here is a photograph of the play. Would you call it a clip?

Shooter on the knoll?

Look at the video. Everett Marshall was splattered on the play and you can see him going down. It was a missed penalty. Stuff happens.

Not sure one can block in the back when they're in front of the guy up 'til contact,

At best the initial contact was into the side of the OU player. When he went down the NU player was on his back.

Here's something for your listening pleasure, while we wait.
Enjoy

.

Looks more like initial contact was either in front or into the side at worst.

Easy enough to take a frame of them falling to the ground and imply the initial contact was in the back.

LMAO! Your vokabularee sucks, dude.

Let Me Google That
Is that too big of a word for you?

You have seriously never heard someone use 'relitigate' outside of the context of a literal courtroom? LMAO, you must truly be a dumbass.

iT's NoT a ReLiTiGaTiOn BcUz DiS iSn'T aN oFfIcIaL cOuRtRoOm SeTtInG... dErrrrrr

the point is that you are attempting to reargue an old debate. The fact that you were unaware of its use in this fashion is just sad and your attempt to ridicule is just pathetic, you look even more stupid.

Here are examples....

If you would like more examples, I suggest you turn your dumbass to google. Damn, you're stupid LMAO

So..... what were you saying about 'yOuR vOkAbUlArEe'?

Damn, man, calm down. Stop being so sensitive. I brought up something that's been discussed for years because the call came on a great play. I also provided a photograph and a video. Even if it was a penalty it doesn't distract from a great game that you guys won. You guys need to stop being so goddamn touchy. Seriously. It's a turn off. A lot of people on here can't even have a discussion with you anymore without you putting on your tinfoil hats. Nebraska fans are supposed to be better than that.

11:30 Kickoff puts a damper on it some.
2:30 would have been better.

1. I answered your original question cordially. I don't see any clear case of clipping.
2. Me being touchy? You went from immediately disagreeing with me to pompously and wrongly ridiculing me.
3. Then I showed how you were being dumb.
4. I know it was a great game. I know that we won. I know it wasn't a penalty.
5. Putting on our tinfoil hats? Bro, you are posting pictures and videos trying to show a penalty that doesn't clearly exist from a game that happened 50 years ago.... you know, relitigating. Talk about tin foil hats.

Bwahahahahaha.... awww look, the little OU fan is trying to be an instigator lol.

Even OU fans know better, no one believes that nonsense above.

Little? :dhd:

Oh brother!
Over the past few years I've known more than a few OU fans who have changed their previous attitude toward Nebraska. I didn't agree with them and we had some pretty good debates about why they had started to feel differently toward the Huskers. The feelings went from friendly, after competing against them in the Big 8 and Big XII for many years, to indifference and, for some, hostility and even ridicule. I'm beyond defending them myself anymore. It was different "back in the day". Things have changed so much it's like a different world now. Oh well. OU/me/you/all Oklahoma fans should quit wasting time on the past and give our whole attention to the present and the future. Let's zero in on winning every Big XII championship as long as we're in this Dead Man Walking conference and get ready for a great opportunity in the SEC.

I went to being indifferent when Nebraska left the Big 8/12 and went to the Big 10. Prior to that I always rooted for OU when they weren't playing Nebraska. If Nebraska couldn't win the NC, then I was rooting for OU to win it.

This Home and Away means very little to me outside of obviously rooting for Nebraska.
However, that has nothing to do with OU being the opponent. Mine as well be any other Top 10 team.

So was NU/CU a more bitter rival than ou/NU??

Hell no. That was a media created rival to draw interest. I've never seen CU as a "rival".

Not to mention that game went away when CU joined the PAC and NU went to the Big 10. 2010 was the last season for both of them.

From the time I began interest in CFB to the time NU/CU left the Big 12, Nebraska was 35-7-1 against them. Hardly a rival.
