1-1 Winsday

Yeah, the homeless stuff was a bit much when we were there (and I've heard it's worse), but you didn't bring your future wife back Voodoo Donuts?
We stopped there one morning. You can voodooesque donuts everywhere now

There was a guy who was a year ahead of me, from a town about 20 minutes north of where I grew up. Kid was a big deal when I was 11-12, he pitched his teams to the LLWS when he was 12 and I think the 13-year old WS the next year. By the time he got to high school, his arm was completely shot, and he could only play 2B. Was still good enough a hitter to get a full ride at Rutgers, and was an all-conference player there. Couldn't get a sniff of pro ball because his arm was barely strong enough to turn a double play.
They have pitch counts then?

Probably true. I remember people having one of their carry-on items being dozen boxes of doughnuts the last time we went.

And if she's not a beer type, couldn't you have found something for her on Distillery Row?

The tents were fucking crazy though. Everywhere you could fit one, there would be one. But you go to the Pearl district, and everything's clean as fuck. We went across the river to Vancouver, and there weren't tents anywhere.

It was a little strange, too....I didn't really see many people begging

Her culture/family is fairly conservative/religious in that regard.

But she does have some past baggage (not really strip club related) that boils over from time to time. Her first real boyfriend cheated (or was at least talking with other girls), her dad had an affair, and her sister's guy (refused to get married even though they had 4 kids... Obviously red flag) cheated on her sister with multiple girls.
one of my friends whose about to turn 40, her college boyfriend cheated on her with either her best friend or at least good friend....she's STILL bitter about it and obvious she has big time with trust issues

Oh, I think some of them certainly could, but we wouldn't want to share those advantages on a message board.

Maybe? I don't recall exactly, but I think there was something like you couldn't throw more than X number of pitches in 4 consecutive days.

What really fucks those kids up, though, is the breaking pitches. Basically causes them to rip at the growth plates in their elbows.

Yeah I'm sure that is common (at least as far as phenoms go). I remember reading about how Hamels' dad would only let him use the fastball and changeup even though he had a big curve when he was younger. That's probably the smart move if you want a career.

She does like the hazy IPA and fruited sour beers.

Yeah, I remember it being a little sketchy around the Burnside Bridge and that part of town, but yeah, not a lot as far as panhandling went.

Hamels' dad has the right idea. No reason for a kid who's learning pitching mechanics in the first place to be trying to learn separate mechanics for a breaking pitch (you need different strides, slightly different release points, and different arm actions) when you can get 90% of little league hitters out with just a fastball in the first place. Teach the kid the four seam, two seam, and a changeup to change speeds. All with the same arm action and mechanics, just different grips. If you really feel the need to have a "breaking" pitch, teach a cutter.

I generally avoid watching the LLWS because these kids are blowing their arms out so someone's dad can tell stories about how he helped them win a world series once.

...

So you got her something from Cascade?
Great Notion.

But I brought back a bottle from Modern Times and Heathen as well. Those will probably be too sour.

This makes for a huge challenge at these moments. I don’t have exactly the same thing, but I’ve found the baggage too over the years. It can make for both of you tripping up at times.

There is a pitch count for Little League World Series. I think these are still the same pitching limits when it comes to the Little League World Series and not just for the regular season

Regular Season Pitching Rules - Little League
Looks right. The kid had to come out before he could get the final out of his no hitter because he was at 88 pitches.
