Thee PAC 12, Big 10, and ACC (Alliance) are Dividing Up tOrphaned 8 As We Plorst.

What options do they have? It doesn't appear that offers are coming there way.

The best move is to figure out what 4 schools bring you the most value.
They are screwed. There only option is to decide how much pain they want to endure because the pain it coming. This is going to be like someone that has to take a job that pays 40% of what their previous job did. Gotta cut that home budget way back in order to make ends meet.

Yeah I don’t see it being a power conference. We’ll definitely have to add. I’m for 2 but not against 4. Anything over that devalues the league IMO.

My preference: BYU and Cincy and if you must add 2 more Boise and UCF. Have an east and west division if you go to 12, continue to play a 9 game conference schedule (5 in your division and 4 in the other) and 3 OOC with a conference champ game. Ohh and pray to fucking God showings result in wins in the Big Bowls the few teams that make it are in. (It’s what the BE did when we were there)

BYU and Boise State are the two most profitable of the G5 programs so they should be 1-2, UCF comes in not far down (I posted this in another thread with the Wall Street Journal rankings. I think BYU was 60, Boise 63, and UCF 65. Cincinnati was 77).

After those 3, it gets interesting for spot #4. You say Cincinnati but USF, Memphis, UAB, and East Carolina all make more money. Also, Army would be a nice add close to West Virginia, has a National interest, and is Independent so no buy-outs. The Service Academies could be all good pickups for the Big12.

Have I mentioned we call dibs on playing Nebraska in the “alliance”.

In the next couple of years, there will be one (NCAA-less) college football league (64-80? Teams)

Weren't those the total revenue rankings? Where BYU runs off and leaves the rest of those teams (and others ahead of them) is their ability to attract national (even international) eyeballs. LDS folks are all over the place. Hell, we have quite a few of them here in our small town here in the oil patch.

BYU would be a good "football only" addition to the Big 12 IMO. Then the conference wouldn't have to deal with the no Sunday play. Their other sports fit well in their current conference.

@Deep Creek Kudos on the big UTEP win last night! It was the only game I watched yesterday (on the Arizona Bally Sports Network Channel) until I dozed off in the 2nd half. The Miners should win the football game next week to move to 2-0), but they will lose Half-time if BCC brings their Band!

The actual ranking includes Football Revenue generation.

BYU is still the highest of the G5 but I am not surprised Boise State is pretty high as well. Boise State tends to have a very dedicated fanbase and they draw eyeballs as well due to their recent success. UCF is kind of falling into a similar position.

One option for the Big12 NOT being discussed is Army. Army is an independent just like BYU so no buyout. They also have a national following. Granted, they are not a very large school and don't have a football focus, but their games are probably on ever Army base and most veterans TVs.

Army joined C-USA for a minute, but they didn't like the conference constriction.

True but C-USA did not offer much to them. Air Force and Navy are in leagues. The Big12 would be a more prestigious league and probably offer more to Army. Not sure how much $$$ Army brings to the table.

You would finally get a team close to West Virginia though and Army is actually very close to NYC so you could get into that TV market. Big12 would also get a boost from the Army-Navy game.

Both the remaining Big 8 and the Pac-12 are screwed for the long term compared to the SEC and the B1G.

Quite frankly, the needle doesn't move much for either side (beyond security in mumbers), but if they consoidated the 20 teams, they would have a very attractive package of quality and quantity from the Pacific to the Mississippi - definitely more attractive than standing pat at 12 and 8 (or 8 + 2) offers.

In the mean-time, I am going to enjoy the hell out of 2021!

Let's Go State!

Sad thing is the Pac12's best options are Boise State and BYU (even the money shows it) but they would never consider them as an option due to how TOLERANT they are as a league.

Oklahoma State and Texas Tech would be decent additions as well.

I like Army Football, and I have no problem if they want to be in the Big Xii, but they don't have the same budgetary concerns, they cannot recruit like the other teams (Army height and weight standards), and C-USA was a physical drain on them. They can hang for an individual game, but the Big Xii grind would blow them away from a week to week basis (getting beat up by bigger players every week). It's just not going to happen.

They would probably have to lax some of their standards, that is true. Still Air Force and Navy play in decent leagues and both tend to be competitive.

Also right now, the Big12 needs teams that can increase tv ratings more than teams that are competitive. Army would bring some interest from a TV perspective and the fact that they are independent makes them an easy pickup (just like BYU).

I’m down for that. Some were speculating it could be 30-40 teams though. That has me very worried as a WVU alum.

I’m thinking proximity though too. Cincy is a nice add for WVU in that department, but as long as they don’t go over 4 adds, I really don’t care what they do.

Agree, 4 at the most. That would get you to 12. Once you start adding to that, it is fluff. You also don't need Houston (unless you want to kick out one of the Texas teams).

Thanks. Hard to tell if we have improved and/or NMSU just sucks. I don't think our defense is "only 3 points" good. I think NMSU's offense must suck.

Yep. Like BYU, Army has a national and international following. Hell, Army probably has as many fans in El Paso as UTEP...considering how many Army vets decided to retire there after spending time at Fort Bliss.

Big 12 TV ratings are going down regardless. There aren't many teams out there that can match the tv ratings Texas and Oklahoma bring. And none of those are chomping at the bit to join the Big 12.
