Mack Brown is a good one based on his turnaround of UNC.

Luke Fickell? :wtf2:

I meant Ryan Day. Brain fart. Still, Luke Fickell isn't a bad option, just doesn't need to be that high up the ladder.

Remember when Mark Helfrich and Jim Mora were Top 10 coaches?

There's only 2 elite coaches right now and they're Saban and Swinney.

Everybody else is low hanging fruit.

I had a whole response typed out about why the fuck isn't Whittingham on the list, then I looked up one more time and saw him there lol and deleted everything. lol

uuuhhh I think Fisher is probably too high. I would have Campbell above him and probably Smart too.

Fisher has a National Title. I know that isn't the end-all equation but it is pertinent. He is doing pretty well at building up Texas A&M. However, this season will be a HUGE judgement call on how good of a coach he really is.

I debated hard between Ryan Day and Lincoln Riley. I think Ryan Day has done better to date but Lincoln Riley has put together a great team this year and that factored into my rankings. Both of them are so close that I almost consider it a push.

Some other honorable mentions on my end are Gary Patterson, Mark Stoops, and James Franklin. (What Franklin did at Vandy is more impressive than what he has done at Penn State so far).

Yeah, but I look at Fishers natty kinda like I look at Cokers natty with 01 Miami. He didn't seem to do much, he just had the talent and let it loose. Once that talent started to graduate and dwindle, he left. His last season there, I think he had a losing record or was .500 or something IIRC.

He has been consistent at A&M, I'll give him that, though I am not sure if it is really him or his assistants. Idk, dating back to when I joined the other site, I have always though Fisher was a subpar coach that got lucky with talent and assistants. But, can't keep thinking that forever. We'll see, I guess.

As for Day and Riley, both were left in good situations. I would edge Day from what I have seen, I am not going to buy into OUs defense until I see it really stop teams consistently.

I would agree about Franklin and Patterson as well.

I think Campbell is good but maybe a little overrated TBH. No championships in a weak conference and does seem to drop one or two that he shouldn't from time to time. Riley and Day are a push in my book, both benefit from being at the top dawg program that was handed to them in conferences that are down/weak at key areas. Both need to win a NC before their conferences get better/change.

Fisher has A&M at NC contender level and has won a championship at FSU, and considering what they are now... good job at both places. If he can get A&M past Bama and Saban (HUGE order for anyone) and win a NC at A&M.... may well boost him past Dabo imo.

Kelly is underrated imo, ND is a tough gig in a not so attractive part of the world as far as recruiting ect. and he has had ND in the hunt and in the game and usually ND plays a tough slate.

Me thinks Coach Hitch 'Em Up's time has passed. Still pretty damn decent but they aren't what they were. He's probably done as well as anyone will do at TCU.

Q: Why hasn't @droider chimed in?

A: Prolly cuz there's only 10 options avail

BK should be higher, and I think Mack should def be on this list. He clearly got acclimated in the studio to today's game and is taking advantage of it.
