Ugh. #faxWorst pickems person ever ^^^^
So I’ve heardMaff's not her forte, I guess...![]()
I swear it’s not the maffs this time! It’s the stupid explanation! +/- seems counterintuitive.Maff's not her forte, I guess...![]()
Easier to think of it at end of the game because in betting you don't care about the score until it's final.Ugh. #fax
so does this make sense:
If it’s -, then it’s basically like that team is starting time game that many points behind? And if it’s +, then THAT team is starting that many points ahead?
so the Detroit/GB score before the game starts is
Lions 12
Packers 0
And
Bills 0
Dolphins 4
?
I rated this “helpful” but my brain short circuited at “the favorite is going to have a minus points” and I had to start over. Again.Easier to think of it at end of the game because in betting you don't care about the score until it's final.
The favorite is going to have a minus points so you'd subtract that amount. Say it's -2.5. If that team wins by a field goal or more, you win the bet. But if they win by 1 or 2 points or lose or tie, you lose the bet.
The underdog is going to have a plus points so you add that amount to the team's final score. Say it's +7. If that team wins or loses by less than a touchdown, you win the bet. Lose by more than a touchdown, you lose the bet. Lose by exactly 7 points, it's a push.
I've always thought the same thing, they do it backwards. If the Packers are supposed to win by 12 points, then they should have the +12 by their name. If Detroit needs to lose by fewer than 12, then they should get the minus. That's just logical.I swear it’s not the maffs this time! It’s the stupid explanation! +/- seems counterintuitive.

It’s kinda like when someone is giving me driving directions. As soon as they say something like, “take the first left at”, my brain immediately goes somewhere else. It’s the weirdest thing, but it seriously like, just…shuts down. I hear sounds and see the mouth and arms moving, but I absorb practically nothing. Usually just a street name or two, all the while, nodding my head and saying, “okay. Okay. Got it. Right, left, okay.”![]()
Been there... Done THAT "directions thing" too! My ADD kicking in every now and then.I rated this “helpful” but my brain short circuited at “the favorite is going to have a minus points” and I had to start over. Again.

I’ll think about it. But when I’m betting before a game, it makes sense to me to say in my head, “okay. Team A is already 4.5 points in the hole, so not only do they have to score 4.5, they need to get one more than that for me to win.” Or “Team B already has a 3.5 head start.” Figuring it out AFTER seems like hindsight & whatnot.Just add the shit to the team's score
If you bet Team A (-4.5) then at the end of the game you subtract 4.5 points from Team A's total and figure out who wins.
If you bet Team B (+3.5) then at the end of the game you add 3.5 points to Team B's total and figure out who wins.

It was excellent.Well?
