RIP C-USA

you were a conference that was never good enough to have "USA" in its name, but for some reason we put up with your mediocrity for years and years

I'll be curious if the remaining schools find a conference. I think utep and La Tech would be good fits in the MWC. MTSU, ODU, WKU and FIU may be SOL.

One idea might be to combine the new WAC with CUSA, but who knows.

i took a few classes @ ODU a few years ago, so i have a soft spot for them

i thought ODU would have been a good fit for the AAC, tbh. ECU and UNCC are going to be there, but ODU's football program is pretty shitty right now.

I wonder if the MAC would be willing to grow beyond it's current 12 members by possibly adding Western Kentucky, and either Middle Tennessee or Old Dominion?

ODU should have stayed in the FCS and tried to get in the CAA for football. JMU was the program that was ready to make the jump

i remember when i lived there, they made quarterfinals (or semis?) of the FCS playoffs. It appeared that ODU was ready to make the jump, b/c they had become a good FCS program. When I took classes there, that is when they were joining C-USA. I would see C-USA banners and flags across campus

I was hoping they would do well when they made the jump. But the program was behind JMU when they made the jump. I always thought JMU was more ready for FBS than Liberty or ODU (although Liberty has nice facilities)

ODU was actually pretty good when they had Heinicke at QB. It’s been tough for them since then though

yeah, i was there when Heincke was the QB.

CUSA may have to start looking at the FCS ranks. Add Sam Houston State, JMU, Liberty, Delaware, Stephen F Austin, Jacksonville State, SE Louisiana and New Mexico State

CUSA East:
Liberty
JMU
ODU
Delaware
FIU
Middle Tennessee
Western Kentucky

CUSA West:
Sam Houston State
New Mexico State
Stephen F Austin
UTEP
LA Tech
SE Louisiana
Jacksonville State

The MAC could increase to 14 members by adding both Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee to the MAC West Div, and simply slide Toledo over to the MAC East Div.

Yeah?

If that happened, here could be the new MAC:

MAC West:
Ball State
Central Michigan
Eastern Michigan
Middle Tennessee
Northern Illinois
Western Kentucky
Western Michigan

MAC East:
Akron
Bowling Green
Buffalo
Kent State
Miami
Ohio
Toledo

.

Now I’m hearing the Sun Belt might add ODU and JMU as well.

why would you combine them? part FCS part FBS? you cant just move teams up to FBS and i doubt the FBS will want to move down.

We're shit out of luck as well. MWC hasn't wanted us from inception.

Combine may have been a bad word. Maybe CUSA absorbs the new WAC into what they have left. Not a lot of great options out there.
