Yes. Work out their hourly pay. They probably make more than you. They also get great bennies and a pension. Factor those in too. It’s popular to say that teachers are underpaid, but they’re really not.

are you counting the time they put into lesson plans and all that?

or just the time spent in the classroom?

I had all my requirements done by the start of my senior year but still I had to fill out a class schedule. I picked lab asst as one of them.
Chem teacher would come in for 5 minutes at start of class, then 5 minutes at end of class. Rest of the time I'd "teach", some seniors, mostly juniors. Always wondered where the teacher went.

Years later I was doing a contract job on the gymnasium, I pop my head into the coaches room. There's all the male teachers smoking and having a good old time including my old chem teacher. I liked all those guys and enjoyed talking to them but as far as underpaid, give me a fucking break.

Several times a week I get to hear about how the teacher took the football away at recess again. When I ask why I hear “she thinks we’re arguing when we yell out audibles and tell so and so where to line up.”

So the overpaid dummy teacher can’t figure out school yard football among a few kids - gives up and takes the ball away - but the coaches seem to handle 20 of them at a time no problem.

Funny, really. And a great example to kids why so many (not all) teachers are useless, and can’t really teach shit.

Teachers and cops are the same in that they’re both order takers, and do as they are told.
