This is funny:

Simone said he felt the Sun Devils lacked discipline, was critical of the ASU coaching staff and said the Herm Edwards experiment wasn’t working. The Sun Devils had a “Rose Bowl or bust” season in his mind entering the fall.

“It ain’t working,” he said on the podcast. “It was a good experiment. No disrespect to any of those coaches as men and as people … but it just ain’t working. The fans deserve better. The players deserve better,” Simone said on the podcast. “These players don’t even realize that they’re being coached so poorly.”

He later tweeted a statement about the issue.

“Sad to announce I’ve been let go from the ASU radio broadcast for some comments I made on @SotDPodcast. I have nothing but love for the football program and University. I’m as proud of a Sundevil as you’re going to find and I will miss my time on the sidelines.”

Did he really think he could talk that crap publically and still keep his job with the ASU Radio Network? He had to be trying to get fired...right?

I think people are this dumb.
They can't shut the fuck up.

If you want to deep dive into analysis, set up a podcast

wow, he got fired cause of that?
Kobe Bryant GIF

Maybe this is why the sports director of Missouri's university-owned NBC affiliate keeps apologizing for the program.

"Can't fire the DC, who will run practice on Monday?"

To be fair the guy was on their payroll. Calling the HC a failed experiment isn’t going to keep you getting paid.
reminds me of the Mack Brown/Brian Jones situation where BJ made some hard criticisms following a loss. Mack called him into his office that Monday and asked him if he were a friend of the program or not.. and let it be known, if he wasn't, he wouldn't have a job.

BJ quit, kept talking his shit and got on with FOX, then CBS sports.

Payroll or not, IDGAF. If you can't handle criticism internally, how in the hell are you supposed to handle it externally. Sounds like bitches actin like bitches.

yep it's cool for the players to take some heat.. but the HC?!?!? Hell no. We all know how he runs a clean program, no need for outlandish takes on him from a sideline reporter...

Let’s put this into perspective.

The guy wasn’t just been critical, he was basically stating the ENTIRE coaching staff had failed and the program needed to move on.

This guy was a sideline reporter for their own radio network. That isn’t going to fly anywhere.

I thought Herm was a man, he’s over 40.

No problem with this.

Prefer for employment contracts to be voidable by either party. If you are going to engage in public discourse detrimental to your employer, of course they should be able to terminate.

Didn’t know that had happened and.. good for BJ, I like him on that CBSN show, good stuff.

There is a difference between being truthful, and just ripping the program. Sounds like he was just being honest.

It doesn’t but.. it SHOULD IMO. They are relating to a large majority of the fan bases when they say things like that at those kinds of times/situations (not just ASU, everywhere)
I like the option of a complete homer call on TV/radio/internet games too, I find it entertaining but.. that’s me.

If these media members are on the actual teams payroll I think this happens rather often. It seems ridiculous, but at the same time it makes sense since I am sure somewhere in their job description is that they must promote the team in a positive way, it is sort of their job.
