the guy played in the big leagues for 14 years, finished runner-up for the NL MVP in 1995, hit .299, had a career .835 OPS but only has a 5.6 bWAR. Coors inflated numbers + bad defense

yeah, i was 13 and pretty baseball illiterate

i didn't pay attention to shit like defense, pitching, walks, etc. Shit, even singles annoyed me. I wanted extra base hits + homers. I was also into big names + that O's team had it. of course, then the calendar hit June and the O's were exposed as frauds

and yes, Baltimore Sosa was awful
 
Player movement in MLB really isn't a new phenomenon.

Nolan Ryan played for four different franchises.

I think this works best with well known names who didn't play on too many teams where the team in question isn't at the end of the career (not a "he used to be great!" kinda deal). Reggie Jackson as an Oriole comes to mind.
