NL MVP

I said the same thing when Braves Twitter was pissed Freddie Freeman wasn’t getting MVP attention in 2016 despite it arguably being the best season of his career on a 93 loss team
plus a Braves player won World Series MVP

Atlanta Braves Win GIF by MLB

Historically I don't take issue with starting pitchers winning MVPs (relievers are another story), but with them throwing fewer and fewer innings I have a harder time considering them.

Harper wins it.

Way to earn that paycheck, Bryce.

what is everyone's favorite moments from Harper's second MVP season?

mine is when he went 0-11 against the Braves with the season on the line.

great stuff

he does not have the #clutchgene
Him signing with the Phillies and the Nats winning the World Series the very next season after never advancing beyond the NLDS with him was pretty telling.

I actually liked him as much as you can like a division rival until he choked when he tried to throw his helmet at the Giants pitcher and was less accurate than Fauci's opening pitch. Haven't respected him since. Plus if you're gonna use a weapon, why choose the helmet over the bat?

in fairness, that Giants pitcher was a clown. Dude waited two years just to bean him, LOL

I respect pettiness and holding grudges. I don't respect bad helmet throws. Dale Jarrett set the gold standard

I'm kinda of laughing at the Braves fans being salty about Harper winning the MVP after they won the WS

So what's that say about Acuña?

You were a much better team after he went down

Not really, between Acuna going down and the trade deadline, the team was treading water. Still under .500 and 4.5 games back at the trade deadline. I even said that I would be fine with selling at the deadline because "this isn't a WS team and nobody we add will make us one this year", glad I was wrong.

Rosario, Soler, Duvall and Pederson made the lineup as a whole deeper. Before Acuna went down, Guillermo Heredia and Orlando Arcia/Abraham Almonte were everyday players. Basically there were 3 glaring holes in the lineup when Acuna was there since he was the only OF and D'Arnaud was out. D'Arnaud came back, and we went from having 0 real outfielders between Acuna going down and the trade deadline to having 4 outfielders.

The team was treading water until the deadline, and it was arguably the best trade deadline for a team in MLB history. Also, the pitching was significantly better in the second half of the season than the first half.

Not one player was near as good as Acuna, but the lineup as a whole got deeper after the deadline. It's very possible that none of Duvall, Soler, Rosario or Pederson will be Braves next season, but they will always be heroes in Braves country

The lineup on July 4 was:

1. Acuna
2. Freeman
3. Albies
4. Riley
5. Swanson
6. Heredia
7. Arcia
8. Contreras

The general lineup post deadline was:

1. Soler
2. Freeman
3. Albies
4. Riley
5. Duvall
6. Pederson/Rosario
7. Swanson
8. D'Arnaud

Harper should have been awarded the MVP trophy on the field in Atlanta after the Phillies played their 159th game there. He had such an amazing series vs. the eventual world champs!
