like he had a choice...

He might have had a choice due to domino effect with some smaller P5 schools having their coach poached, but not for that kind of cash.

he's being blackballed..

From a pure financial standpoint, do the Big 12 ADs really think they will be able to keep up in the "Coaching Salary Arms Race" once OU and Texas leave? If I'm an AD from another P5 conference with a job opening, I'm selling future financial reduction possibilities for their current schools to Aranda, Campbell, Gundy, and Kleiman. Those four are pretty good coaches to remain at places that may be forced to pay less for both HCs and their assistants. What am I missing?

I'm torn. Those schools have big money boosters willing to fund coaching salaries. I don't think funding for things like Football and basketball will take a hit but Olympic Sports (especially sports schools aren't good at to begin with) will. That being said if $100 million dollar contracts (and potentially half of that going as buyout money), become common, it's going to take really deep pockets to keep up.

Take us for instance. We have some decent donors but our far and away biggest one passed and after his estate is finalized we get one more big donation out of his will and that is that. I'd hate to think that we would waste half of that to fire someone that isn't working out.

Bunch of Florida people and recruits following Billy Napier on all the socials. Must be a done deal

You probably said it better than I did. "Selling the farm" was my way of saying the Olympic Sports could bear the brunt if they sink everything into football and basketball salaries (and buyouts as you point out.) Good coaches will be poached like they currently are from the G5 schools because they won't have anywhere close to the revenue needed to compete with those $100 salaries and buyouts. I'm not sure some of the lower level P5s will either to be honest.

IMO we need a superconference and let those that can absorb that level of expense compete with each other.

Freeze has health issues and I think the wife calls the shots now.

Aranda New Deal
One thing private schools have going for them is disclosure requirements. Coach Hitch'em Up sure benefitted from such at TCU.

LSU mods are saying it's Lincoln..

if this is true, this is the biggest hire I've seen them pull off. Saban wasn't Riley at this point when they hired him. Same for Les Miles and especially the then interim HC who eventually got hired on when Herman went elsewhere.

That’s gotta be the fake McMurphy account

Yep.
