Lincoln Riley to USC

i mean the guy has skins on the wall.. and he's at SC not UCLA or Cal
coming off a 4 or 5 win season. not back to back conference championships 11 wins seasons playoff and NY6 bowls like OK did
USC class of 22 as it is ranked 67 on 247sports. oklahoma signed the 8th ranked class in Riley's first year.

Maybe instead of bitching about Riley going to USC, Oklahoma take a look at what they did that made him leave. People don't walk away from that level of a job without being pushed.

If OU stayed in the Big 12 and the conference championship was a layup for him in most years he wouldn't be leaving. There was too much risk to his coaching legacy to stay and make the transition into the SEC. Going to USC he has at least 2 years to get them up and running and compete for conference championships if not win them in 3 to 4.

At OU he is at the top of the food chain and there was nowhere to go but down and he saw what happened to aTm who hasn't won 10 games since they joined the SEC, never won a division let alone the conference, and honestly hasn't finished better than 3rd in the league.

Make no mistake this wasn't a business decision and not an OU problem. The only way to fix it was to back out of the SEC move and that wasn't happening because there is too much money at stake.

So, OU joining the SEC is the push? I'm good with that. OU made a decision and Riley walked. Unintended consequences and such.

Kiffen failed at USC
Sark failed at USC

Riley was gifted the OU job that didn't require a rebuild.

Going to be interesting to see what he does. I'll be watching for sure and hope we meet that fucker in the playoffs.

USC has cupcaked their future Non conference schedule for the remainder of the decade so no chance of an ooc match up. Future USC Football Schedules - FBSchedules.com
Riley helped build the team which is why it didn’t need a rebuild.

He could sleepwalk his way to 8-4 with the talent on the roster.
have you actually seen the roster? BTW I do think he instantly upgrades it through the portal. Think a lot of players want to comeback home

Yes. 4 and 5-star talent abound.

The argument against them leaving for the SEC was that they were all but guaranteed annual playoff consideration because of their ability to dominate the conference. The argument for Riley to LSU was that its easier to recruit elite talent there because they are a blue blood that completely locks down a talent rich state. This is kinda the best of both worlds. Caleb and Spencer didn't go to OU because of the school. They went there because Riley gets quarterbacks drafted on day 1. His reputation will travel.
LSU is not a blue blood
