Urban Meyer to be Named as Notre Dame's New Coach

I doubt it. Kelly’s meeting with the team lasted all of 2 minutes and he took no questions. Rumors abound that it was short because Freeman of all people told him off for how he departed.
It's was just wishful thinking. Giving the OSU fan the bidness. LSU needs a DC since Aranda left. I never thought he would follow Kelly here. He has a great shot at ND. Hope this shitshow works out for both teams.

Only thing that gives me pause is (a) we were competing with LSU for his services last year (b) with Kelly going and opening up the vault for him it gives him what he needs to make a HC leap I. The next year or 2 (something we all expected at ND) and the security to do it.

It’s not impossible especially if they’re going to dick around and wait to hire Fickell or someone else.
Our recruits for the next two years are waiting to see what will happen. With early signing day 2 weeks away the timing of this blows but that’s the nature of the beast these days.

Yeah -- Kelly screwed ND. With signing day so close and no head coach -- ND could see the same thing that OU has seen happen, with commits de-committing in droves and ND has a top 5 recruiting class, so that could be many high quality recruits looking for new homes.

My bro is a die hard ND fan and he is beyond pissed. I messaged him when i saw the rumor and he said, no chance is Kelly leaving, he is a god on ND's campus, but as they say, money talks. Just crazy to see two big time programs lose their coaches like ND and OU.

I don’t think Kelly was as beloved as your bro claims. But everything seemed poised for a big jump next year and it seemed like maybe he was finally coming around to his gig plus being the “winningest coach in ND history” doesn’t mean shit without a title. But the only difference between us and OU right now is Freeman. The recruits (save one who has already decommitted) are waiting to see if he stays or goes. If he goes so does a majority of the 2022 class and most of the 2023 class.

He usually knows everything about ND football. He has been a season ticket holder for as long as i can remember. He is a member of some group who gets to VIP pre game at the Victory Club or something along those lines. Personally, I despise ND, so I try not to listen to him all too much. No offense. :)

Any word of Bill O'Brien possibly being mentioned as a candidate for Notre Dame?

The reason I ask is that BOB was supposedly a top candidate for the Virginia Tech job, but the Hokies just hired Penn State DC Brent Pry.

No way in hell.

Top 3 candidates for ND should be Urbs, Aranda, and Fickle.
"Fickell" I get it when other fans don't get it right, but the guy started for 4 years at Ohio State and coached there for 15 years.

I remember calling him Fuckell because the team was shitty in his 1 interim year and was lost to Michigan.

Seems he's improved his craft since then.

I don't think that was on him. He wasn't given control. The OC ran the offense, he ran the defense, half the offensive starters were suspended for multiple games, it was a mess.

Oh for sure. In hindsight, he probably did a fine job considering the state of the program and team. At the time though, I was bitter.

That was also the last time Nebraska beat Ohio St.

It was immediately after that game when Bo Pelini blew up on Nebraska fans on a hot mic. LOL

Now there's a guy that we need back in the P5.

OU and ND need to do what's right. Give Bo a shot
