Who's on your Heavy Metal Mt Rushmore?

Though not metal per se, Led Zeppelin does deserve a nod as they were a huge influence on most of the bands mentioned already.

Zeppelin, Alice In Chains and Clutch are all bands I want to name in here.

But prolly not “heavy metal”. Idk the cutoffs, but those three and early Metallica would be my 4.

it's crazy to think i don't even really know what heavy metal is. Iron Maiden, I knew Run to the Hills, Two Minutes to Midnights, Fear of the Dark, etc.., I typed in best heavy metal song of all time and Hallowed be thy Name came up, it rocks, don't get me wrong, but I don't think I know what's heavy metal because i never heard that song before. Now the Trooper is on, Again, I'm digging this song, I'm sure I like heavy metal, I like most music, the that said, Run to the Hills and Two Minutes to Midnight hit so much better when I heard the live versions with the crowds, I'm sure every great heavy metal song from Iron Maiden would be the same. I guess I'm just looking for good tunes, (sending a link to an entire youtube album works so much better, as i think they actually told stories way back when.

Not even close. While I would agree that Metallica has gone downhill, all of Megadeth’s catalog can’t measure up to the first four Metallica albums.

You’re basically saying that Bob Ross is better than Picasso because Bob never slumped.

Gone downhill is a huge understatement.

They have four good albums, one of which should probably be credited to Megadeth.
 
I can't in good conscious put a band on Mt. Rushmore that has three good albums.

And Megadeth has two decent albums, neither of which can hold a candle to any of the first four Metallica albums. Consistent mediocrity isn’t a virtue.

The Black Album ain’t hard to listen to. That’s my cutoff. The you get King Nothing en schit and songs I’d rather hear the Dead play.

Like I said, one of those four actually is Megadeth.

Guess we're at a tie, with 30 years of garbage, compared to 30 years of improvement. Megadeth's last few have been awesome.

Not gonna lie, I enjoy Bob’s work slightly more than Pablo’s.

Dated a chick for years that had Guernica hanging in her room. Always fuckin bothered me. I’d rather see happy trees than oddly shaped dead cows.
