Lincoln Riley to USC

Sometimes in life your reputation is formed not by what you did but how you did it.

I have seen several OU fans post this drivel since it happened.

But not one has explained what the ''good way'' is to leave a job.

If he had been fired as some of you wanted...what would be the ''good way'' for OU to fire him

Seems like, according to OU fans, a coach isnt allowed to leave until they either retire or the fans want them fired.

It would help if you hadn’t been recruiting for another school all season. Maybe that’s just me.

You can believe me or not but here's the truth from someone who knows many of the people in the Oklahoma AD. Riley was NOT completely straight with Joe Castiglione ever since the SEC bomb dropped. And he flat ass lied to Bob Stoops on a couple of things. No one is saying he can't take another job. But how he did it was beyond the pale. A lot of this stuff will come out after things calm down a bit. Stop with the crap about how OU is butthurt. We got double crossed and it's irritating. Truth is, it's probably best anyway. The program's trajectory was going down before the SEC thing came up and this season's performance just exacerbated everything. People were figuring out how to defense Riley and his QB's were no longer playing at a level to cover up the problem. And the defense was just the same old story it's been for years. Good luck with the guy.

Jalen Hurts was no slouch, however, he was definitely not on the same talent level as Mayfield or Murray even though he put up some pretty good numbers. And Rattler. Welllllll Then Caleb Williams came along and he has had to live with a porous O line this year that couldn't even block for a counter play, not to mention all the f'n penalties. The D never got to playing strong on a consistent basis over the past few years but what else is new in Norman? I'm of the opinion everything was a combination of two things: a lack of talent at some positions and people started to figure out Riley's Star Wars offense. When you go from scoring 50 to 35 to 25 and the defense is playing the same, problems develop and you start getting close games and even some losses.
He won me over with the way he handled losing the starting job to Tua while at Bama. Guy's got class IMO.

Walking away from a name brand school has been a big no no TRADITIONALLY. Riley and Kelly may just have changed that way of thinking. Even though Riley went from name brand to name brand. Kelly may have too. But still...guys just haven't shunned places like Oklahoma and Notre Dame in the past.

lol @recruiting for another school all season. Guys commit to a coach and de-commit when that coach leaves or gets fired all the time. USC had some recruits de-commit when Clay Helton got fired ffs. What would you think would happen when an actual good coach leaves?

So, when is QAnon releasing the emails about all of this? Gotta be any day now, right?

No one wants to be the dumped. There is no scenario where that doesn't make for a salty treat for other readers.

I mean we were a bit salty when Sark left... until we were thankful after seeing what happened at SC.

I agree. I guess I just look at it as business is business. I once left a job that I liked and where one of my closest friends was my boss because I got an offer from another company that they just couldn't match. At that same job, I lost a couple of good employees for the same reason.

It sucks, but you move on.

Hopefully, Riley works out better than Sark did. lol
