Official CFP Matchups

One of the rules used in seeding the four is to avoid rematches in the opening round, IIRC. If UM were ranked #1, Bama at #2, then Cincy would have been put as #3 and UGA #4 to keep from having a Bama/UGA semi. I will look for that rule if you like.

That's OK.

Regardless of the pairings, they still gotta win two.

That is not a rule.

That’s a stupid rule.

Teams are playing for a national championship and who they played last week has an impact?

Not surprising from college football. It’s not about anything besides maximizing profits.

He's confused. That's a consideration for the NY6 bowls, but not the playoffs.

Is Michigan crying because they have to earn a national championship?
No. Would I rather not play a superior and angry Georgia … yes. You play who you play, and you battle. Then, take a look at the scoreboard to find out who won. After that you tend to your wounds and hopefully you are playing again. It’s really pretty simple.

Here is how I see Michigan's match up.

B1G CCG -- Iowa and Michigan play a very similar style. Michigan is essentially Iowa, but on steroids.

CFP -- Michigan and Georgia play a very similar style. Georgia is essentially Michigan, but on steroids.

It is irrelevant because the matchups would have been the same unless you think there is a difference in traveling to Miami instead of Dallas.
You do realize -- If UM and Bama swapped 1 and 2, UM would play Cincy and Bama would play Georgia, right? The difference in travel wouldn't matter, as the #1 team, I believe, gets to pick which site they want to play at?

Michigan has looked bad against Penn St. Nebraska and Rutgers.
Georgia looked above average against Alabama, but they looked unbeatable against everyone else. By the way, above average is not good enough to beat Alabama.

That’s not a rule. Now they may do it anyway, but it’s not a rule and they said today they don’t do that.

I hate the fact that you are right. Now we must figure out how to get an edge over them.

Should have been Baylor (maybe ND). UGA PROVED they don’t belong literally hours ago.

Aren't the Cotton and Orange NY6 Bowls? Don't the NY6 host the semifinals every year?

Are you intentionally being stupid? The avoiding rematches portion is exclusive to the non-semifinals bowls the CFP chooses matchups for.

How did Meatchicken look against 3-9 Nebraska or 5-7 Rutgers.

Same as Oklahoma, Sparty, Ohio St., Wisconsin, and Iowa.

So your answer is yes but that does not apply to the playoffs. I am on the NCAA's CFP website and do not see any mention of that other than a vague "in certain bowls". Do you have a link?
