According to sources: Mario Cristobal to be the next HC at Miami

say what you want, but looks like Miami is going to get their guy

lots of people about to eat some crow
Ive been saying Miami was the only job i was really scared of. never bought into USC, LSU or Florida. but said if he leaves its Miami

Has there ever been a situation where a coaching search was happening while the other coach was still recruiting? And the hiring came within like 10 minutes of the firing? Super weird.

Gonna need to install a governor on yourn portal.

I don't think it has been this public and this dramatic but yeah there have been searching behind the current coach's back plenty of times. Auburn got busted sending a jet to talk to Petrino when Tubs was still coaching and that blew up big time. It was one of the events that started the plane tracking.

Just think if you are an AD doing a covert coaching search you now more than likely have to find someone that is willing to let you borrow a plane (so it's not a university one), drive to another city to catch that plane so it never hits near your campus, make sure you aren't seen by anyone in the area while you are meeting with a prospect. You have to have CIA training to pull that shit off.

Of course, Miami went by the "I don't give a fuck" approach and while it worked for them is Cristobal had said no they would have an epic mess on their hands and would kill their recruiting class. If I was a coach I would be very hesitant to take the Miami job with the BS that goes on around that program with boosters. The only way Cristobal is going to be successful is for them to give him full control like Saban got to come to Alabama. Saban got the boosters out of the picture and gave them one assignment and that was to buy him some players.

shit Mario is related to the biggest booster who also moneywhipped one of the best ADs (for football) too. Sure it went down bad publicly, but if Mario has them winning 10 games and a shot at the ACC title in the next two years? Nobody will care

I don't disagree but I don't think winning the ACC title is going to make these guys happy.

I actually don't think Manny was doing that bad of a job he just had some really bad injury breaks. They made some good strides last year and weren't they on like their 3rd QB this year? I get the impression these guys think you can throw a fence around the Miami-Dade area and win a national title on homegrown talent alone and it isn't that way anymore.

he went through OCs, and DCs.. he's a mess.. what i still don't understand is when Richt had his final shit season with a mutiny on his hands.. the brass decided to bring back a coach who was on that same exact staff.. Like no red flags?

their 3rd (?) QB this year put up 25 TDs, nearly 3,000 yards passing, had a 4:1 TD to INT ratio and had the 11th best QBR in the country.

Manny Diaz is not a good coach.
