Lincoln Riley to USC

"You gonna be Vanderbilt"

LOL

They aren't going to be that but they aren't going to be who they think they will be. I figured with Riley they wouldn't have the success in the SEC they had in the Big 12 but 10 wins there and an expanded playoff, they were going to be fine. Texas A&M leaking the news before the expanded playoff was finalized messed that up and kinda fucked them. It was probably part of the reason why he bolted. He knows they will be lucky to sniff a 4 team playoff in the near future. And that's not a knock on him as a coach or OU as a program. The SEC is a tougher gauntlet than any other conference. They were down this year but that doesn't mean two years from now beating Bama, LSU, and Auburn before facing Georgia in a conference title game will be easier than beating Oklahoma State, Baylor, and Iowa State only to have to do it again. I'm guessing if the powers that be at OU had the foresight to know that playoff expansion would be doa before they left it wouldn't have happened.

That being said, they got hosed by this. I think it's hilarious but they had a top 5 coach who was capable of working through it and he bolted for greener pastures. I don't follow local media but apparently Al and Dean were literally crying on the air because of it. Lincoln made a business decision-and considering what he is getting generational money for it I don't fault him. Heck, we are worried about retaining our DC, but if Clemson offers him 20 mil for 5 years as a lateral move I'm not upset. Money is stupid in college football right now. I love my job but if a competing company offered to double my salary to move to LA I'm not even bothering with giving my boss the opportunity to counter.

So tough spot for them and they took a gamble. They fired the dude a decade ago because of nepotism and if that were me I'd have given them the finger and looked at other opportunities or just stayed where I was. But I'm guessing he also got fuck you money and cash heals a lot of wounds. They have two problems though. One, it's probably not going to work out. History says even elite programs struggle with new hires. Nebraska and Texas are perfect examples. They have all the money to hire the right guy and have failed time and time again. Also, say he does well. They fucked him over a few years ago. Saban is 2-3 years from retiring and Dabo is the obvious replacement. Alabama has a succession plan in place and it involves an alum with natties on his belt. The replacement for him is pretty obvious provided he does well enough at his stepping stone job.

Your joking, right?

Conferences claiming a team and their success years before they joined that conference is some bullshit, if I've ever seen it.

The point is that after UT/OU leave, the remaining BigXII members are lacking in accomplishments. In no way am I claiming those championships as PAC championships.

USC is my t-shirt team. I have no allegiance to them but unless they are playing the alma mater they are my clear no 2. Squat fans may be pissed at me being insufferable but if we are being honest we all bought t-shirts at Wal Mart so there is really no difference in either of our fandom

You are a complete fn moron, you realize that right?

Shits about to hit the fan. No wonder LR has had a weird look on his face since he got there.....

Annie Hanson and Lincoln were ????????and Lincoln’s wife found out. Said to have her fired or it was over. Annie told him “have me fired and I’ll file a wrongful termination suit filed and it comes out regardless”. Would make sense why the “personal day having nothing to do with football” happened during the Baylor game and why LR was so aloof the last few weeks around the building. He was planning to take the LSU job to get out of town, then the USC job became real and he took that instead to keep his recruiting class. Annie, one of the most active people at OU on social media has not tweeted, liked, or instagrammed anything in a week.
From a friend:

Annie Hanson stuff is all true.

They sent Riley a breach of contract non filed law suit. They are checking the temp on his response.

Going to serve USC and Riley on Christmas Day. Tortious interference with commerce, defamation, slander, tampering, breach of contract, interstate commerce issues, and because it’s a state employee the state of Oklahoma can get involved.

Hitting usc with essentially a walk away agreement of like $10mm.

The theory is they will show USC that the Annie Hanson evidence and Riley cheating and all the Clarke Stroud back story will come up in discovery and there is no way USC is going to want their new coach with about $100mm guaranteed contract to have evidence in open record of him cheating on his wife and some other stuff.

They were able to show enough ***** from text and wife’s cell phone (which was a school phone) tbat they knew and were planning all of this.

Plus the illicit texts.

Tons and tons on the pending law suit with Lincoln Riley and usc that I can’t discuss in writing. But we have them dead to ******** center and OU will hit usc with a settlement agreement in a week or two.

Can’t fire Annie Hanson. Afraid of a wrongful termination law suit. They have a settle agreement in place and a non defamation of character agreement in place if she wants to stay. OU happy to have her stay but won’t be sad if she opts out.

All formal contracts are drafted but still don’t know name. Was told they will just insert names snd then get it inked when they know.”

Then why did LR hire her husband? This makes no sense. I'm not saying something didn't happen...but if my old lady was fooling around with a guy, the only reason I'm taking a job he offered is to fuck him up when I see him.

I have seen several OU fans post this drivel since it happened.

But not one has explained what the ''good way'' is to leave a job.

If he had been fired as some of you wanted...what would be the ''good way'' for OU to fire him

Seems like, according to OU fans, a coach isnt allowed to leave until they either retire or the fans want them fired.
I agree there is no way to leave a “good way”. I don’t begrudge anyone for taking a different job.

Don't stick your dick in where the check comes out.

Don't screw the crew.

Don't shit too close to your own front door.

Especially with what he was offered.

Most of these decisions are actually made by the wives anyway. From what has been reported, part of the reason Luke Fickell didn't take the job was because his wife is happy raising their kids in the midwest.

Riley's wife probably said "Southern California and they want to pay you how much? Yeah, we're going". lol

The only reason I can think is to try and save face.
I want to believe it.

The 'Last Word' interview he did w/Toby before the Baylor game would make you think he was in the dog house. I said then that it looked like he was in there.

At this point though, I just want to move on...right? Ain't nothing can be done to make the situation less shitty than it has been. All I know is there are a lot of parents and student-athletes whose worlds were flipped...us fans can kick rocks when you get down to the root of the matter.
