Lincoln Riley to USC

This response by the OU fans reminds me a helluva lot of the response that Wisconsin fans had when Bret took the Arkansas job. They will have long memories fueled by alcoholic rants. I can't wait til opening day next season when Illinois travels to Wisconsin to open the season.

Also I blame the USC athletic department. Who da fuq poaches a team's coach before the season is over? Yeah, I'm looking at you LSU.

Andersen leaving Wisky for Oregon State had to sting too

I blame the early signing period. Coaches have to try to get their new school in time to save as much of the recruiting class as possible. That's why, even on their first day, they are squeezing in a visit to a top recruit or 2.

Minus the early signing period, I think that all of these happen more "traditionally".

That is a part of it for sure, but it still feels sleazy.

No doubt.

I completely understand it...but I still don't like it.

Hopefully, this will lead them to get rid of the early signing period.
Or install a tamper free period. Unless a coach has been fired, he can't be contacted during the season including bowl games.

Programs with big dick, go fuck yourself money.

That wouldn't be too bad. I just wonder if it might cause more de-commits and/or transfer portal activity as kids get a little impatient.

Possibly an uptick. Those kids would have to look at who is recruiting them and question if they'll still be there.

Yeah, at least in this case, the de-commits, etc. seem to be calming down a bit. For example, unless I've missed something, USC got 3 of the OU de-commits, but all 3 were kids from 2 schools that have been a bit of a "pipeline" for USC. If USC had a competent coach when they were being recruited, OU likely doesn't get them. Now, we have a competent coach, so they want to come home and play in front of friends and family.

Not sure if they would calm down during a "tamper free" period. Especially since it will also create more rumors.

It also looks to me like Caleb Williams is staying at OU. I think if he was going to enter the portal, he would have by now.

Like Arkansas?

Every year the price to play in the SEC goes up.

You have to be willing to rob a few charities to compete now a days!
