Me too. You never know tho. Crazier things have happened. You would imagine that Petersen was asked by UW. I'd be shocked if he did a 180 and took the Oregon job.

Agree. Seems like UW was his shot at this level, and a very calculated move on his part. Big time potential with relatively low media responsibilities/distractions and a culture that would support the OKG thing. And even that was too much. A program like oregon doesn’t want anything to do with his personal morals when it comes to recruiting and everything else.If Petersen returned to coaching I'd be surprised to see it above the FCS level or D3. The things he hates are worse the higher up the sport you go. He loves the kids, teaching, long hours, etc. Hates the transfer portal, NIL, coaches going after his commits, media.
Those are not getting better anytime soon. I could see him going where those things don't exist.
I liked him, but hated his OKG crap and unwillingness to go after kids already committed. He won't play in that sandbox. Do you really want that in this era?

I don’t think he’s as averse to NIL though. I’d bet he supports kids getting theirs as long as it’s done in a way that sits with him. Isn’t part of his role at UW right now setting up some kind of program relating to NIL?
Lol. I honestly didn’t mean that as a slight. I don’t know that any program should want that at this point. It’s a whole different playing field now with the transfer portal and all that. But let’s be real, your fan base embraces the whole Nike thing and flashy big time stuff, it’s kind of the opposite of his style.

You have to realize that OD is pretty much the perfect caricature of what people think of when they think of the oregon vibe.
Yeah, that's the legit for the kids side of it. He really doesn't like the hidden underbelly side. Can't see him answering to big donors that have lots of power or corporations trying to use kids. He's trying to setup the stuff done right in his eyes.Agree. Seems like UW was his shot at this level, and a very calculated move on his part. Who are you guys hoping for? I honestly almost feel bad for you guys not getting any real discussion about it with OD around![]()
What's OKG wiz?If Petersen returned to coaching I'd be surprised to see it above the FCS level or D3. The things he hates are worse the higher up the sport you go. He loves the kids, teaching, long hours, etc. Hates the transfer portal, NIL, coaches going after his commits, media.

Did they ONLY categorize them as "not OKG" AFTER they decided to go elswhere? If they did so at that point, then your "insinuating" comment has merit.“Our Kinda Guy”
CP and his staff loved to call recruits “not an OKG” after they decided to go elsewhere, insinuating that they are low character people. This move backfired on the recruiting trail and is a big reason CP resigned and UW is in the position that they are in now
I think it’s gonna be Kalani Sitake. Haven’t heard anything definitive yet but that seems to be the move when you read the tea leaves.
I know some people want Aranda or Kiffin but it’s gonna take a serious offer to get them to move and that’s not how Oregon’s operated in the past. Chris Petersens name has been thrown out there but I doubt he wants to come back to coaching.
I don’t think a Chip Kelly reunion is going to happen. I think it’s more likely Oregon just promotes the interim coach at that point
I rarely if ever remember him using “not OKG” after the fact in an excuse kind of way. It wasn’t even a thing he said a bunch in general. And It wasn’t necessarily a character thing, it could have just referred to they thought a kid had potential and is coachable and would do well in their system.Did they ONLY categorize them as "not OKG" AFTER they decided to go elswhere? If they did so at that point, then your "insinuating" comment has merit.
Or did they consider them "not OKG" DURING the recruiting process WHEN they discovered something that indicated they were "not OKG"? If they did so at this point, then the "insinuating" comment has no merit.
I'll give you an example: My wife was a high school counselor for 20+years. While she had about 400 students a year, only 40-50 students were good enough athletes to warrant scholarship offers over those 20 years. And only about 1/2 of those had "Division 1" offers. Besides their coaches, recruiters would check with her and the assitant principal assigned to the students they were recruiting. She placed the recuiters (and their schools) in three categories when it came to "character" issues for the students they were recruiting.
1. Some would immediately stop recruiting kids that had some "character" issues.
2. Others would ask what kind of support she thought the kid would need to overcome their "character" issues.
3. The others didn't give one hoot if the kid had "character" issues as long as they were talented enough.
She tended to like the ones in category 2 the best. (Which makes sense for a counselor!)
I'm not convinced that Sitake can be gotten.
