So What stops a kid from Threatening to leave?

My issue is stuff like Texas giving linemen 50K each and then some of them taking the money and then leaving.

if you are an amateur then fine no one should be able to tell you where you can play. However once you take money then you should honor your commitment or the entity you took money from should be able to get it back.

They‘ve created a monster that no one is going to be able to control.

This is the part I don't get with NIL. One of the stipulations of the NIL deals is that they aren't to be used as tools for recruiting. How exactly can Texas get around that rule, when they come out and say they will pay OL 50k a year? That is exactly what they are doing is using it to attract OL to come to Texas.

You don't say you're going to pay them, you say everyone in xyz position is making xyz minimum amount with their current deals "but I can't guarantee it" wink wink

Shouldn’t give away money without a contract if you aren’t ready to get screwed over.

It’s long overdue for kids to be the winners of the CFB world.

Even before NIL kids threatened or even announced they were going to the portal without ever actually doing it. ONeal for A&M did it a couple of years ago.

it's for charity, funny how people want to attack this since it's out in the open as opposed how it's done through slimey "uncles, brothers, trainers, 7 on 7 and even HSFB coaches"

If these kids all take the money after a year while playing with UT and bolt?? So what, there will be another infusion of high school seniors and players in the portal that would like to play in Austin.. and yes be able to make some money while doing obligations for charities.

What's going to happen -- you will have "charities" at every top tier school. Come to Alabama - we will give any scholarship QB $500k to do charity appearances. Come to OSU -- we will give any WR $150k to do charity appearances. Come to "fill in the blank".

This is nothing more than a recruiting tool and a blatant one at that.

If they are giving this money to every single OL on the roster, from the walk ons to the highly rated OL recruits -- then i'm fine with it. If they put this offer out there and only give it to starters -- then it is an issue.

I was just thinking if I was Bryce Young or CJ Stroud why wouldn’t I threaten to leave and act like I’m entering the portal so all local business would throw NIL money at me to stay?

What stops a kid from using this as leverage?
Who would want a baby who makes excuses for losing like CJ Stroud?

The thing is the “kids” of the CFB world aren’t necessarily winning. The “kids” of P5 schools are.

In the pros of you sign with a team then that team has the rights to you if you play. What we are creating is a world where these kids are professionals but there’s no limitations on where they can go. If the NFL ran like this and didn’t have salary caps, players could jump to other teams when they wanted and there was no draft it would kill the product. You would have a few teams suck all the A talent and the schedule would have a lot of beat downs. Interest would go way down in the NFL.

This is kind of the scenario we are setting up in CFB and it is going to be problematic.

either you think we are stupid or you really don't follow Tejas football
You forgot Homer where unless there is a smoking gun, he will argue that Texas did nothing wrong:

Wtf are you talking about, dunces? Thus us being done out in the open.

If this is what they are doing in the open, imagine what they are pulling under the table
