Eleven Pipers Piping Wednesday Morning

I have a thermapen, works like a charm.

might stick with that brand...I think I just need a shorter probe...the one I have is just too big for the steak I was cooking and a lot was exposed to the oven temp
for reverse sear I have the a smoke and a dot

the dot seems to be the most reasonable

I don't need a smoke...that's too fancy for me

Think outside the box. Get bigger steaks

if you end up paying a lot for a meat thermometer, you'll probably want a smoke afterwards.

my receiver for smoke crapped out, cant decide if I'll replace it or not. Does come in handy though

so you mean you have probes from the dot and the smoke...gotcha...I couldn't understand your post

Shouldn't it be two turtle doves day?

The smoke has a receiver that you can take with you so you don't need to be right next to cook, the range isn't very big though, but enough I can go inside. Mine no longer works so I can only use the unit itself to see temps, I don't have the portability anymore

no, but I had a winter hat on, so it wasn't about my hair

I mean he often has a winter hat on so that helps sell it.

I don't understand winter hats in mild environments either fwiw. And I'm bald

I have a sous vide in addition to my smoker. Cool to use. I've used them in tandem once, which worked well. With the smoker as an option I rarely use the sous vide though.

i'm not the one here who said the probe on their thermometer is too big for the steak.
I stuck it in through the side, penetrating through the shorter end so the probe ran through the length of the steak
