whomever is labeling players for opting out as quitters.. Hope you are a huge Jaylon williams fan who shredded his leg in a bowl game. Also, El Paso is really nice this time of year, instead of bashing it give it a chance.. but who am I kidding wazzu fan probably stays in no matter what bowl game his team goes too

I understand their need to protect themselves and their family....

but i don't understand how you say your a Pitt Man for ever and peace out on the bowl game which usually is huge for recruiting. especially in Texas - even if it is in the middle of the damn desert.

Not saying that he should have opted out but getting injured definitely effected where he was drafted.

Isn’t Pitt playing in the Peach bowl and Miami in the Sun bowl. It’s early but am I just being more stupid than usual?

Jake Butt was a late 1st round prospect and didn't go until the 5th round. Cost him upwards of $15 million. It is why he was eligible for the draft insurance and recouped a very small piece of that money

No matter the reason or logic, they quit on their team.

And the only one NOT to have changed HC's in the last 4 years is Nebraska.

Frost can't even keep his best 4 players in state.

Oklahoma, Auburn, Oregon, & Missouri all came in here and took 4*'s. So much for the 500 mile plan. Derp

ehh i call it promotion.. if the team made a bowl game, then kudos to the players who opted out I guess. But i get why people get mad, just don't see it that way.

Glad my horns all opted out of the bowl :(

When you get a promotion, don't you have to quit your previous position.

Which is why keeping him is frustrating. He better hit it big like Bama is doing through the portal because a lot is riding on this season. He's fucking it up badly for the next coach when he signed the class that he closed on Wednesday.

of course not, they get elevated as ambassadors of their schools into the NFL draft and they cross train their previous role with a younger guy.. and as a fan you get to see that guy play in a bowl game and get excited for next season..

3 of OU's starters on D line opted out. In addition to Bonito, Isiah Thomas and Perrion Winfrey are out. On O, WR2 Haselwood, QB2 Rattler and TE Stogner are all sitting out due to portal/transers. Next team up!

This season isn't over until the bowl games are played.

I don't get the fear of injury angle. Most of the high round draft picks have already played 40+ games in their career. What's one more game?

It's turned into "Who can we bring in to hold his hand".

they probably see it the same way.. what's one more game? Doesn't change what they did the previous 3,4,5 seasons. Most of these players already have hired private trainers to get ready for the combine, they don't want to be nursing an injured shoulder or leg.

Like I said I have no issues with them playing or not. Next man up.

You're right. I don't care about quitters.

The Sun Bowl is fatastico! It's an old traditional Bowl (2nd oldest) in a cool stadium and puported to be one of the most fun Bowls to attend as a player (ask Lee Corso!). FWIW, Bowl King Alabama is a 3 time Champion (1983, 1986 and 1988), that was where Iowa State played thier 1st Bowl Game (1971 vs. Bert Jones and LSU), and it is one of may favorite Bowl experiences (Stanford vs. Mich. State in 1996) as a fan. Good matchup this year with Wash. State and Miami (Fla.) too! @Deep Creek can confirm!

It is the 2nd oldest bowl. IIRC, it is the only one CBS still broadcasts. And Bernie Olivas and the rest of the Sun Bowl crew do a great job of treating the teams well. The teams arrival greeting is very, very festive at the airport. Sometimes too festive. Here's a more recent picture looking the the same end zone after Larry Durham built them a new complex. The glass is the weight room which looks to the South over the Sun Bowl, part of the campus, downtown EP and Juarez as well. Great view....especially at night. Well, great view with the exception of those warm winter days/cold nights with no wind. The inversion causes the smog to settle right there and it looks like LA or Phoenix.

My Dad always talks fondly of the Sun Bowl. He was in the Nebraska Marching Band for the 1969 contest (Huskers 45-6 Jawja).
