Tis Tik Tok Friday

I can never see myself just staying in one place on a vacation. Seems like a waste of time to go thousands of mile somewhere and sit an Ubers length from your hotel.
weren't you saying that it was a waste of time to go anywhere when you can just google pics of a place and get the same experience?

why would you teach your kids to follow the rules?
Yes, why would I? I teach my kids that actions have consequences. If one of those consequences is punishment for breaking some body's rules you have to weigh that into your decision.

I taught my kids to think, not be robots.

but I didn't get caught

actions only have consequences if you get caught though...that's what "don't get caught" means to me.

that says to me that you are ok with your kid doing something that might be illegal to benefit themselves as long as they don't get caught

but is that the same as "don't get caught"?

I mean, that's how I feel about speeding in my car...it's fine as long as you don't get caught....but that applies to breaking any rules or laws.

and to be clear I am not accusing or criticizing anyone here, just asking questions...feels off to me

Fuck you, ya flaming idiot.

I didn't tell them "Don't get caught". I told them the likelihood of them getting caught is high. That is not the same, you empty headed moron.

seems the same to me...

sorry to have triggered you, Santa

Sometimes doing something illegal is the right thing to do. Sure, getting caught is part of the equation but if you accept that there are consequences for your actions, you accept that consequence. Deal with it.

I must have hit a nerve

I had to learn for myself "don't get caught" and I feel like that is something every kid learns the hard way.

a parent telling their kid "don't get caught" seems like "ok, I did my best on the morals and shit, up to them now"

I agree there is a point where you have to take the training wheels off and they are on their own on their decisions

At some point it is. You either helicopter them, or let them figure some things out.

Im curious as to what kind of parenting you got.

raised catholic, taught morals and stuff, grew up, had fun, did shit...never really got caught though

so I suppose the same being discussed here...and maybe it's because I misunderstood that the morals were taught too.

I was never told by my dad "don't get caught"

One of the things my dad said after one of my "mistakes" has stayed with me all these years.

"You got yourself in trouble. Get yourself out."
