Deion Sanders

I'd guess he is at FSU by this time next year. Unless he feels like FSU gave him the middle finger and so he decides to give one right back. But if he goes to a P5, I'd think the obvious choice is FSU.

from what I hear, the leading candidate for FSU in 2023 is some dude named Lanning.

I don’t think he has any head coaching experience though so it might just be a rumor.

So a team that finished 7-5 is considered the Black National Champion? Sounds a bit patronizing IMO.

FSU still got a top class. They did fine recruiting

and what do you mean you like him? Who the fuck likes him?
You and I define "top class" differently. 14th in country <> top class.

I guess when you are around 50, that looks pretty good. I kid, I kid.

No, I agree 14th isn't a top class. But it's not a complete disaster either. In regard to Florida's last-place SEC finish, most gator fans are happy with it, because they expected even worse. Our new coach closed on a few top guys right at the end. Hopefully, he signs a couple of holdouts on signing day.

people look at Jackson State's record and immediately think that FSU and others fucked up by not giving him a chance.

dude is currently coaching in FCS' version of C-USA. the MEAC and the SWAC don't play any teams from FCS' top conferences. Pretty weird.

Take everything Sanders accomplishes at Jackson State with a grain of salt.
Name the last time Jackson State beat out ANY P5 program for the nations #1 recruit.
Deion Sanders knows how to market and he knows how to recruit in this era. Like him or not he’s gonna have to be dealt with obviously, if he’s getting top recruits to come to the FCS level then he will without a doubt have top classes coming to him when he goes to the P5 level.
Ive seen the guy be a father figure to more than one at risk young men before he ever started his coaching career so… I like the guy outgoing personality and all and I think he’s gonna do well TBH.

I have no reason to doubt any of what you are saying. But I can tell you first hand that his charter school had to be closed by the state. And by first hand I mean first hand. I did contract work of the Texas Education Agency after I retired. And we weren't sent to school districts or charter schools where everything was fine. I'll just leave it at that and you can research what happened at Prime Prep if you so choose.

Unlike Mullen, he's actually recruiting. Getting Shemar back in the folder was impressive. More important was getting NIL lined up to flip Wilson. He was a big need for us, a long time silent commit. That was impressive. He also came and got one of our recruiting coordinators who had previously worked for him at ULL. At least he understands you have to try to recruit.

Nah, we won't hear another thing about them or Hunter. Sorry, but this is an aberration. Even if they can get a couple players a year, it won't do anything. Also, Hunter will be at a P5 school within 2 years. When shows up at JSU and sees their facilities, buses to the games, plays in front of a few thousand he will take his millions and transfer.

Deon is, and always has been about Deon. End of story.

Say what you want about facilities and competition but some of the HBCUs have a great atmosphere and have higher attendance than several power 5s

I know a fair amount about the HBCUs through some of my past employees who attended them. Plus, I grew up a white kid in south Florida that went to the Orange Blossom Classic every year at the Orange Bowl ... my dad grew up in Miami and he took us down there for the unreal band performances. So I get that at some level he will have a great time.

I also know see what it is like for UGA players, as an example, to walk into stadiums with 90-100K fans, fly charter, play for SEC and NCs, and have the top of the top facilities including S&C, nutrition, great food, etc. Not to mention playing every day against some of the best D players he can face. He isn't going to get any of that at JSU. He would have gotten that at FSU, UGA, Bama or any number of P5 schools that would have gladly taken him.

How does one 'expect worse' than 'last place'?

We started in 79th. way the fuck down there.
Just terrible.

Nebraska was down in the 70's too at one point.

On the bright side for the Gators, they have a new coach to recruit 2023 where Nebraska's got a lame duck trying to convince parents he'll still be there next December and beyond.

Disagree 100%, I could see him as well as Hunter going with at several bigger places.

Louisville
GT
USF
Memphis
LA Tech

would all be good , realistic fits IMO.
