Are there not 4 CFB teams that are close in talent?

CFB is still like this. All the way up to rivalry week and the CCG, multiple teams had their chance in getting into the top 4 but lost. UGA and Bama are the teams that got hot going 13-1 and now there in the Championship game
That’s fair. We might be looking at the same exact final anyway. No matter the tournament size UGA probably would have still been the seed they were (even though the lost to Bama in the CCG).

This might not fix that. But both SEC teams having to run more of a gamut to the final would silence the griping to a good degree.

The bigger impact is the transfer portal. Few teams can actually keep that stable of talent as backups and developmental players. If you aren't starting the top 4* and 5* kids they entirely bail and go anywhere else where they can start.

Bama can keep top flight talent as backups better than everyone else.

Doesn't matter what your incoming class ranking is if you can't keep that talent from bailing to the portal.

They know under Saban they're gonna get CC and NC rings whether they start or not.

They just bide their time until it's their turn once they're developed by top flight coaches and advisors.

UGA's QB is a former walk on
Two of the top 3 WR's are 3 star freshmen(one was a no star until he was offered by UGA)
The anchor of the defense was a 3 star after though
And a walk on gets significant playing time at safety

Gotta develop too.
Yeah. Some isolated successes that aren’t high ranked are fine. But that defense though. Yikes. Made our fastest players look like they were walking in mud

Expanding the playoffs will keep more local kids attending local schools. Right now kids flock to the same few schools because only those schools have a legit chance at the playoffs. Put more teams in the playoffs and the talent gap will begin closing due to recruiting changes.

Oh for heavens sake, give it 10 years and the landscape will look different and people will STILL be complaining
Yup, although Alabama has maintained themselves at the top for longer than most.

I will say UGA had THE game plan in order to succeed in that game last night. Offensively and defensively. No other way to put it.

Expand to ensure every conference a spot so recruiting will somewhat even out or go back to 2.

With BCS here are the NCGs during Playoff era:

2014: Alabama vs Oregon
2015: Alabama vs Clemson
2016: Alabama vs Clemson
2017: Clemson vs Oklahoma
2018: Alabama vs Clemson
2019: LSU vs Ohio State
2020: Alabama vs Clemson
2021: Alabama vs Michigan.

Not much more parity but still a little more.

I blame the "rest of the conference members" for a lack of variety during the CFP era.

ACC - FSU and Clem (To the other 12 ACC members, what the hell have you done?)
B1G - Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State (To the other 11 B1G members, what the hell have you done?)
Big 12 - Oklahoma (To the other 9 Big 12 members, what the hell have you done?)
PAC 12 - Oregon, Washington (To the other 10 PAC 12 members, what the hell have you done?)
SEC - Alabama, Georgia, LSU (To the other 11 SEC members, what the hell have you done?)

Yup, although Alabama has maintained themselves at the top for longer than most.

I feel blessed to have lived thru 2 great runs, the Bear and Saban.

Need a recruiting cap and revise the transfer portal. Only way it’s a fair playing field

I'm enjoying this competitive Oklahoma State vs Notre Dame game. Finally a bowl game worth watching.

There is less variety than even that.

FSU, Michigan State, Washington, Cincinnati, and Michigan got there once and were all crushed in the first game.

Oregon did make it past the first round, so they do get some credit. But that was the first CFB playoff, then they got wrecked OU style.

The playoffs belong to Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, and Oklahoma. Georgia is an up-and-comer now that made it there twice. Probably going to win it this season.

We need a bigger playoff to see more upsets. There is a reason people love the CBB playoffs. Much more exciting to root for the underdogs.

But the traditionalists don't want playoff "upsets". If you keep underdogs out of a playoff then they don't have to worry about them.

But from what we've seen, there haven't been that many anyway. Yeah the lower seeds have won several, but that was probably as much from bad seeding as being a real underdog. Ex: No way Georgia should have been seeded lower than Michigan last night. Committee just didn't want to hear all the crap about two SEC teams being the highest ranked.

This is like saying give everyone $100 at the beginning of the month and at the end of the month everyone would still be $100 richer.

IRL, at the end of the month people are broke and some people have $1000.

The only parity is the 3rd and 4th teams sometimes.
