We got a Wednesday here!

Going to be emptying my freezer this spring. Have a turkey, some ribs, a few whole chickens, and some ribs to get through. Turkey looks like a Mother's Day meal.

I need a chest freezer. Having an extra turkey in the freezer the last 2 months was a PITA.

Traeger cleanup is easy... replace the foil on the drip tray and shop vac out the ashes.

My BIL has one and the food is amazing but the smoker is always gross as hell w fat and juices dripping everywhere. I could gag just thinking about it. I still want one.

I'm a clean freak with grills, but I know what you mean... my in-laws grill is gross. If I know we're going to make something over there I make sure to get there early so I can clean the thing before my MIL puts food on it.

And juices don't "drip everywhere"... there's a big pan where they drip and either flow into the bucket or burn onto the foil. Foil gets replaced every so often and it's good as new.

I bought mine a few years ago. It was super cheap in like November/December time period, although I don't think we're going to be in a place like that again for a bit.

I think the next one I get is going to be a stand-up model, though. Lot easier to find things in one of those. I used to be a lot more diligent about keeping tabs on what was in there, now it's just kind of like, as long as I have room, it just goes in the freezer.

"I need a chest freezer" is enough. You don't need to add an explanation.

probably easier to find now. I remember there being a shortage when COVID started.
Yeah, actually saw a few of them in stores. I had been thinking about getting one to replace the DIY kegerator of mine that crapped out, but the price on used ones was through the damn roof, so I just bought a kegerator. If I ever get to the point where I am brewing and drinking enough again, I'll revisit building one, but two taps is plenty for now.

I'd love a stand up, but I'd need to do some better coordination in the garage to make that and the drink fridge fit. Maybe I could get by with a full size upright fridge with the wide freezer on top and get rid of the 7.whatever cubic foot small fridge that's out there now.

growing up my dad got a used fridge for free from a neighbor and cut a hole in the side to run a tap. Probably would have been cheaper to buy a new one with all the extra electricity the old fridge used.

but I could have given an explanation that I was turning into a prepper...
If you are seeking out a chest freezer it is implied you are a prepper, serial killer, or both

Yeah, we got a small chest freezer from my wife's grandmother. When we got the big freezer, I did some fixes to the old freezer to accommodate three 5-gallon kegs. I could probably fit 5 or 6 in my current freezer, if I got so motivated. The only "problem" is that there's no way I'd be able to do a half barrel in that setup. Lifting a full keg over the side of the freezer (plus another foot or so of height from the collar) would probably kill me. Would need to get a hoist to do it.

Like I said, right now it's completely academic anyway, since I haven't had more than a keg on hand in 3 or 4 years.

when I shop for freezers at lowes I ask the salesman to give me sizes in numbers of bodies that will fit inside... then I'm asked to leave.
They don't want your business? Your money is green just the same as everyone else's

lights are off the Christmas tree, just gotta get it out of my janky old tree stand without spilling too much water and launch it into the woods

I do that with trunks when I am car shopping
