Clemson & Ole Miss Getting Hit Hard

I don't like Dabo that much but everyone already writing him off is funny. He went 10-3.. coming off a CFB appearance. Like what makes you think he lost it? You don't think this team heading into next season can't win the ACC.. or have just 1 loss, setting themselves up for a CFP appearance?

I agree. He built the Clemson we've seen since 2009.

He brought the first 10 win seasons to Clemson since 1990.

Clemson Recruiting Rankings

2010: 27th (6-7)
2011: 10th (10-4)
2012: 20th (11-2)
2013: 15th (11-2)
2014: 16th (10-3)
.....................................................
Average Ranking: 18th

2015: 9th (14-1) CFP Final
2016: 11th (14-1) Natty

6 out of the 8 CFP's.

yeah, I get that he fell short of expectations, which are pretty high. But if anyone deserves the benefit of a doubt, it's him. Let's see how '22 plays out

first impressions are hard to shake, mostly b/c ppl are dumb and often refuse to change their original opinion

between 2009 and 2013 i heard the "Dabo is just a cheerleader and he won't be able to sustain his success. He can't beat Spurrier and South Carolina, etc" take a lot. and tbh, after that 2010 season, people thought he straight up sucked.

dude has won 2 nattys with 2 different starting QBs

and the Jimbo comparison is dumb as shit. Jimbo's coordinators made lateral moves. Dabo's coordinators have always left for head coaching jobs. the RC is following Venables, a guy that he has worked with, to Norman. definitely time to panic

I just pointed out he made the CFP Final with average 14th ranked recruiting classes.

He then won the natty a year later with average 14th ranked recruiting classes.

They weren't good early, but they won 8 of their last 9, won their last 6 and then their bowl game without Venables.
I agree ... I think Clemson was/is a good team with a bad year (for them).

Michigan is losing a lot of defensive players to the draft ... An excellent coach will have this and overcome it. The question is; was Michigan a good team that had an outstanding (and lucky) year? Next year will tell.

We shall see. Osborne didn't beat Oklahoma until his 6th year. He went 12-8 against them after that.
Osborne was the original "Can't win the big one".

UGA will be interesting next year.

- We lost our DC, which shouldn't be a big deal. Smart was hands on with the D, and the co-DC Shuman has been with Smart for 10 years, and you have Muschamp as co-DC. And, we have recruited crazy on D. We won't hold teams to 6 points per game average, but we will still be top 5 at, let's say 14 points per game. That should win the SECE which is the first step.

- The main thing we have to deal with is the NFL draft and then transfers. McShay has 18 UGA players getting drafted. That's double the most UGA has ever had. That's 2019 LSU numbers and we know what happened since for LSU (lots more to their problems). And, we may lose a good number to transfer. We will get some from the portal as we have in the past. But, we will be a very talented, but inexperienced team next year.

Yep they say who they want and if they are for sale.. if the kid likes money, they make sure they can outbid them all

BTW man, this talk of 30 mil is crazy.. Heard that the highest paid one was Nolen and that was 500k. Not sure why that ou247 staff made up numbers.. makes them look soft
It's going to be 30M over the course of 4 years. Our LLC's are structuring them to be "wink wink" multiyear promises. Nolen I believe is $500k per year. Of course anyone that is good enough after 2 years will make 10x that in the NFL, but its still a great sales pitch to offer basically a 4/$2M "contract" to a high school kid.

Stetson Bennett will be there next year, you guys will be fine

Nolan is obviously worth it.. but what about others like Stewart who seems like a sure shot.. but if he still puts up the numbers that the other hot shots coming in did.. do they let him walk or do they still pay him his 300k, allegedly and all?

All these can be true:

1. I fully support NIL.

2. I thought NIL was not supposed to be "you come here and we will give you millions."

3. I am ok with it being "if you come here and we will give you millions" - that's the legal bagman concept - but it needs to be properly defined so everyone is playing by the same rules.

4. I am confident that my team will do just fine with those rules.

5. I am also confident this isn't good for college football in the long run.

If he gets benched after being that highly rated then he probably transfers. Then the boosters are off the hook since it is a year to year deal

what? No Calzada in the top 50? I'm floored. FLOORED I TELL YA.

you can't believe that Stetson is the answer..right?
UGA Twitter has been spewing those numbers all month along with his completion % of passes 15 or more yards down field being top 5. To me it's just proof that stats can be very misleading.

I'll take Bennett over Fromm just because Bennett's arm is just as good and has better legs and Kirby's devotion to Fromm leading to Justin Fields transferring was probably the first time I started to really question Kirby as a HC, but any realist knows if we do win the natty, it's not gonna be because of Stetson Bennett. The Orange Bowl was probably the best game in his college career. He had all day to throw and Michigan had no answers for James Cook or Brock Bowers, that's not gonna be the case on Monday.

Clemsons last 3 classes ranked 5, 3, and 10. The current one was 24 but they only signed 12 kids one of which is an unranked Australian punter. That small of a class means one thing-Dabo is about to embrace the portal.

The complete rebuild for his coaching staff is tough but they have invested enough into their program that he can probably afford to get whoever he wants. Plus they have the facilities and brand, and I'm guessing NIL cash isn't going to be a problem.

They will be fine. They might not be an insta playoff contender every year but it's not like Wake and Pitt are taking over the ACC and leaving Clemson in the dust.
