There are "horror" stories about these things every few months, and they all end the same. "they could be use by bad people" but in each case they report on the tag was found or it wasn't an AirTag but instead one of the other devices like Tile. Some people are hell bent on finding ways these things are being used for evil and can't really ever land on anything.
