Is he a Hall of Famer? I feel like he is borderline

A decent pitcher with a WAR of 43.3 while there is an outstanding 2nd Baseman (who retired in 1995) with a WAR of 75.1 who received 2.9% of the vote for Hall of Fame ... NO!!! Not even close.

Very good pitcher on some championship teams, but not a HOFer IMO

As a Cub fan I love what he did for the club bringing it home so I can die in peace but HOF? Im not feeling it

I think Tim Hudson has a better case. I don't think Tim Hudson is close to being a HOFer.

He can definitely buy a ticket for admission.

26% of HOF pitchers have career WAR lower than Lester.

I appreciate what you are saying but would those pitchers be elected today? I'd have to take a look before I made a judgement.
Don’t read too much into my comment. I’m providing no opinion as to if I think he should make the HOF or not because I really don’t give a shit either way.

I was simply pointing out that if WAR is the measure, he wouldn’t be the worst HOFer.

9 of the HOFers with lower WARs were elected after 2000.

Some of those d00ds got in for other things. Like, for instance, Babe Ruth. Hank O'Day is in as an ump. Lots of the other guys are relievers or Negro League guys.

Lester compares favorably to Jack Morris, who just got in.

Well then fuck Jon Lester!

They both were good pitchers, but they should not be Hall of Famers. Kirk Gibson is another hitter that had Hall of Fame moments, but not a Hall of Fame career. “Sweet” Lou Whitaker should have been an easy choice. Lou and Tram deserved to go in together.
