No doubt. For years those were pretty much my everyday footwear. I can't believe they've lasted this long. They've seen a lot.

I've been considering buying another pair, but I'm reading reviews online that say they've moved production from Italy to China and the quality has taken a dive. Disappointing.

Vasque was one of the product lines I carried in the stores I managed/oowned.The move to China sourcing for the Sundowners was a huge mistake, IMO. They also redesigned the soles. Not the same boots at all.

Do you know if they've done anything to improve it?

I'm finding them around $200. You think they're worth that? Any other recommendations?

I retired 9 years ago, so I don't know what the line is like now. Been wearing Merrills for my last couple pair, with Keens for my day hike boots

At that price, I seriously doubt they have made improvements.

As far as advice, don't order hiking boots online. Find a good backpacking store and be fitted by a pro.

I got up to the refinery without my steel toe slip on red wings, so I end up at walmart at 6 in the morning buying a pair to get me through the day.
Found some ankle high lace ups for $30. Box said "Tactical Boots" from some asian country.

They were so much more comfortable I kept wearing them, got over a year out of them before they wore out.
