It was a good movie up until they found that little shit.....

I don't have much of a rating but Downfall is fantastic and so is a Russian film called Come and See. I just saw Come and See not too long ago. Its about a kid who is forced to join the Russian resistance.

Great movie, and brutal.

Red Dawn. The original, not Chinese-approved one.

Saving Private Ryan
A Bridge Too Far
Battle of the Bulge
Siege of Firebase Gloria
Apocalypse Now
Pork Chop Hill
Steel Helmet
Bridge at Remagen
Hell to Eternity
To Hell and Back

Full Metal Jacket did not have enough action scenes, IMO. Doesn't make the cut.

But, it's the best boot camp movie, ever.

I watched Apocalypse Now for the first time a few months ago.

Afterwards I thought, 'This is the movie everyone raves about?'

Total crap.

Private Ryan is one of the best movies ever, imho.

but in no particular order, some other good ones are…

JoJo Rabbit
Full Metal Jacket
Inglorious Basterds
Bridge Over the River Kwai
Enemy at the Gates
TAPS (not sure this qualifies?)
Red Dawn (original)
The Day After (doesn’t REALLY belong on this list, but I saw it as a kid and it affected me)

I am certain I forgot a bunch of really good ones.

Fury was the best I ever saw. Hasn't even been mentioned. :tsk:

There will never be another role of this type where a relative unknown comes in with such fire. F Lee was a consultant on the movie and had the role down so well they just gave it him.

This one is right near the top for me. Not so much for the Nam part of the movie (though it’s damn good) but for the boot camp parts.

My father went through Parris Island right around the exact time this movie is set in. He said that everything about the boot camp experience at this time was so spot on, especially the Drill Sergeant. Of course, he didn’t have a Pyle in his unit lol….but he did have stories of guys to at cracked up in camp….just not to that level of crazy. In fact, the only thing he really hated about that whole thing was the fact that somehow a grunt could get a hold of a live weapon in barracks.
