Well @ill and company (as I forgot who I quoted yesterday) I fully admit I was wrong. I honestly didn't think Big Papi would get in and sure enough he did

It's Wednesday and last night was the worst performance of my life bowling... Though I was oddly consistent, same score all 3 rounds... 10 under my average, which sucked.. Fortunately my teammates picked me up and we took 6 out of 8 points

Not even 8 am yet and I am ready to call it a day.. Today sucks!

This HoF shit gets me fired up again. We’ve gone around on this debate a few times the last few weeks….even getting called into the meltdown thread, though I thought that was debatable.

Years ago I was in the “fuck Bonds, Clemens, etc” club. I’ve since matured. I’m not upset that Papi got in, I think he’s deserving. Just not quite as deserving as guys being held out.

Another one I read about today….Scott Rolen. Frankly, he’s got metrics and eye test as a HoF guy. But he’s struggling with the threshold, possibly (likely) because he never was a guy that ingratiated himself to a team, and hence their media.

It all just rings again (I’m a broken record)….it’s time for the archaic process of journalists voting in players to end. It was given to them forever ago to help ensure positive press or the game. And they don’t even hold up their end anymore. Combine that with 4 ballots now have been sent back blank…and that alone should make the case that these fuckers should have no say.

well, it's past 8 now, so feel free to call it I day if you'd like. already a third way through it.

the only time the sport gets any coverage is because they're in lockout or it's HOF voting time. they're the only game in the summer and can't pull numbers.

Haha. I wish...

I’m for tightening the voting process but I think it should include writers. There’s lots of rules about WHICH writers get ballots and which don’t. I don’t know them all but one of them is if you have a vote and retire as a writer you get to keep your vote for ten more years. Why? If you’re no longer a writer then you should no longer get a vote.

I think all votes should be public. The majority of voters who keep people out do so anonymously. That’s BS IMO. They aren’t voting for political office (which should be private). It’s just the HOF. Own your decision.

I also think living members of the HOF should get a vote. Some would keep people out (ie Joe Morgan) while others would let people in (ie Frank Thomas). This would give voting power to people other than just sports writers. This group would be deserving of that “honor”.

I’d be open to other changes as well.

I agree with this. It's passed time for MLB to have a committee of former players and managers do the voting. You mention 4 blank ballots and I'll mention the Boston writer that won't vote for Bonds, Clemens, Ortiz and others because of steroids yet his one and only vote went for Jeff Kent. Is there anyone else on this planet that thinks Kent wasn't using PEDs when he played in Balco's backyard? Christ, take a look at the jump in his offensive numbers after he got to San Fransisco.

how many voters keep their votes private now adays? I don't really follow, but feel like sharing it is a cheap article or four for a lot of them.

Been up all night dealing with some issues regarding my godson who lives in Australia. His dad was a childhood buddy of mine from Boston so when his son was born I was named his godfather. Several years ago my buddy moved to Australia obviously taking his family with him. Since then my buddy has gotten hooked on drugs and been in/out of rehab. My godson and I have gotten closer during this time but him being on the other side of that world makes dealing with problems tough. He needs his dad who’s he’s not around/reliable. Just trying to be there for him. Great kid

went to bed with a little bit of a post nasal drip, so pumping my body full of Alka Selzer cold to try to knock it out.

I think it’s a little more than half.

It’s that half that is keeping these players out. Bonds and Clemens get the required 75% (or get real close) from the known (ie public votes). It’s these ballots that are “private” where the votes decrease rather sharply

Kiddos had another school roller skating party. Always hilarious. It’s like watching Jack Ass but it’s kids.

do they take joy in hitting each other in the balls or something?

or are they just bad skaters...which I didn't know the Jack Ass crew was known for
