I don't blame the guy. He came to college, completely turn around a defense that was torched last year. Now can get the same gig, but at the highest level, so he doesn't have to do a ton of travelling recruiting and what not.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Harbaugh leave either. 4 years is the longest he has stayed at any job. He has been at UM for 7. If UM isn't going to go along with the rest of CFB and start allowing transfers in (other than grad transfers) and opening up spots for NIL deals -- I'd leave too if I was Harbaugh.

UM is already at a disadvantage with the ridiculous academic standard BS to go along with being in a state with only a handful of quality recruits a year. He beat OSU his last year -- if UM doesn't start changing from the old ancient way of thinking -- it will be a long time before they beat them again.

Sam Webb reported this morning on the 247 "insider site" that Harbaugh reached out to Larry Foote last night to fill the void.

I think the longer this plays out the better shot that Harbaugh stays. People keep forgetting that Harbaugh just signed a 5 year deal. So he's under no pressure to get this done on some timeline. He could sign it in spring for all we know.

Mcdonald was a great get, sad we only got him for a year.

I heard somewhere - maybe 97.1, I forget - that MI has a new deal ready for him to sign if the Raiders don’t offer him the job.

Michigan does not have ridiculous academic standards for their players. Just stop. They drop their standards just like nearly every other school. Doesn’t like 1/3 of Michigan players have general majors?

In terms of admissions, we do. Which is why Xavier worthy was playing at Texas last year and not Michigan. We're never going to be a place that just lets anyone in who's good at football. Has Alabama ever turned away a recruit because of admissions?

Unfortunately they do. A lot of old money in AA who hate that the university is better known for football than academics. They aren’t willing to make that worse by lowering standards.

Blows for us but great for him. Goes back to the coaching staff he was on for seven seasons, only he gets to be the DC. Was able to turn the defense around into a top 10 scoring defense after a pretty dismal 2020 and held the top scoring team in the country to 27 points and hold them to their lowest output against Michigan since 2012. Hope he does well as the Ravens DC.

Wasn’t Gary borderline illiterate but he had no problem getting in. Michigan slides the scale when it suits them. But pretending like Michigan has Stanford like requirements which is why they can’t compete with Ohio State regularly is a joke.

I don't think that's true, I think rumor is from that NFL aptitude test. Michigan will certainly do everything possible while in school to keep a player eligible, but getting them in is the hardest thing for us. Getting some of these high school athletes eligible for Michigan is hard.

He suffers from dyslexia and his grades changed when he went to junior high. Funny that’s when most schools start having football teams?

High schools can certainly do things to get their kids eligible. I suspect that happens around the country everywhere. You're going to get the kid who's ranked #1 in the class eligible. Probably worse at "football schools" like IMG.

He scored a 9 on the Wonderlic. He also started his own sports agency right out of college and represents himself as his own agent. So he can’t be that dumb.

They also don't allow just grad transfers. That was bullshit as well

One of the big failures for transfers is that if you transfer in, you're likely going to lose a shit ton of credits. UM is notorious for not accepting credits from other institutions.

I'm sure Shea Patterson had that problem

The players don't have to meet the standard of regular student requirements, but UM won't allow players in even if they meet the minimum NCAA requirement for athletes and they definitely won't sign waivers for a player to be an exception like 99% of CFB programs will do.

Michigan also won't the overwhelming majority of transfers in, as they won't accept the credits toward their degree from the majority of schools. It is why you rarely ever seen UM accept a transfer, unless they are a grad transfer, which gives them a clean slate.

UM can't do what MSU has done and raid the transfer portal, it is part of the reason I think Harbaugh leaves UM, because they put the program at such a disadvantage. Tucker is brilliant how he has worked the transfer portal -- UM was able to bring in one guy this year, because he was.....................already graduated.
