Caleb Williams

Oklahoma now has Central Florida's QB and OC -- and you think that is upgrade? Do you see the recruits Lincoln Riley has had commit to USC, just since he has been there? 2023 he already has 3 of the top 26 recruits with verbals to USC. All were going to go to OU.
When you add in Raleek Brown, Caleb Williams, Mario Williams, McCutchin and the others who have left Oklahoma (spencer rattler, Jaden Haselwood, Stogner) -- That is an absolute ridiculous amount of talent. It isn't as if elite 5 star recruits grow on trees. You only have 25-30 a year.

OU just lost like 8 of them if you include current and potential who have transferred or decommitted. Now the pipeline OU was using to get many of those 5 star recruits is shut, because the HC who built the pipeline is now at USC.
Jeff Lebby has had a better offense the last 3 year than Lincoln Riley. And now with the big upgrade on defense OU won't have to try and hang on to games 55- 52.

Baker, Kyler, and Jalen all are on a downward slope. None have delivered anything of note.

That isn't the slam on Lincoln Riley that some folks (especially Sooners fans) would like to think.

Riley had those QB's performing at a level in college that got them drafted in the top 10...including #1 overall...when they weren't good enough to be drafted that high.

What happens in the NFL reflects on their talent and the coaching they receive in the NFL. A college coaches job is to get them to play as well as they can in college...based on where his QB's have been drafted...he's done a good job of that.

You are talking to someone who saw front and center what JFF could do, so I know all about CFB vs NFL and what Rileys job (or Bro's at that time) was. So no knock against him, Riley's job isn't to groom them for success at the next level at the expense of his own teams.

True, you will be losing 10-52 :dhd:

Wow. Slow down. OU has taken a step back. No doubt about it and we've got a lot of work to do. But it's not as if we're suddenly dropping down to Nebraska's level where we have to sweat out even being competitive. Losing Muleshoe will hurt, probably, in the short term because we did lose a bunch of good recruits. But it's not forever. OU's just got to get back to taking care of business and the recruiting will take care of itself. I'll bet you OU has a better record in 2022 than USC will. But I'll expect USC to improve a lot by 2023. That doesn't mean OU won't be fine long term. Everyone is enjoying the OU drama but it's all on Venables and the new staff to put things back together. I expect within 3 years to have a better team on the field for SEC play than we would have had without all the changes. And that's what most OU fans are really interested in anyway.

Tempting.

Both have cupcake conferences. Someone is going to take this one, right?

You are truly trying to convince yourself it was an upgrade? Remember those 5 star recruits you'd get from California? Those are gone now. You see how many Cali kids jumped ship as soon as Riley left? The pipeline built by Lincoln Riley is shut down.

And not to point out the obvious, but to have a big time defense, you need big time defensive recruits. With Texas schools essentially putting their players on the payroll essentially -- it will make recruiting Texas even tougher. So that'd make the two most talent rich areas much more difficult to recruit.

I think OU will still be a very good team, but if Texas and Cali gets shutdown on them -- they are in serious trouble when they go to the SEC.

This is looking more and more like letting Lincoln Riley get away is going to be a huge mistake.

I'm interested to know if he gave OU a chance to keep him. Or was it a long running series of events that led to it? I mean, stepping stone schools are gonna get stepped on by nature, but this one felt sudden.

Lol did you already forget you lost 4 games last year including Jeff Lebby and both Mississipi schools and also Arkansas. And big Jimbo almost lost to Colorado lol.

Yeah, so I know full well what it is like to have a shit QB. You are correct.

As long as you have that used car salesman for a coach you won't be winning anything but recruiting titles. You are now the texas longhorns.

Again, that's your opinion and you have shown recently that your opinion isn't worth the sanitary napkin you scribble it on.

One of these days NFL GMs will learn to not waste a top pick on a USC or Ohio State QB.
No they won't. The inbred insanity has been running through the nfl for decades. That ain't ending. If anything, it looks like it just keeps getting worse.
I quit the nfl about 20 years ago. the fucking bullshit then was terrible and it appears to be worse. The more money they make the stupider they get. They ain't changing.

But they hired a guy who looks like he has been huffing the laughing gas for 1989 Batman, they is going to bring the 5*s in

Man, some of the OU posters just aren't up to the level of trolling the SEC is going to bring. They need to up their game. :dhd:

Sure it sucks but All of those 5 stars are on 1 side of the ball. Personally I was tired of 48-45 games. We’ll see where it goes but I’m ok with it. Stoops only Natty was won with defense so let’s try that for a while.

You going to the Tech game tonight? Lincoln Riley ain't got shit on Chris Beard. I see tickets are going for four figures. Tech fans won't disappoint.

hell no I won't be there, be sitting in my living room down in Texas City watching it. Crazy that Lubbock PD had to escort the UT players/staff from the hotel to the arena for shoot around this morning.

They really REALLY, hate Beard.. and all he did was go back to his Alma Mater lol.

I'm not sold on Beard being able to get to what Barnes did here, but i'm for certain he'll be at least the equal of Shaka. Tonight would be an epic win after all this nonsense from the fans up there. UT/Aggy rivalry is much more heated, but not like this.

stoops was struggling on defense before LR got there too, LR really did save him with his offense. BTW for you to have a chance vs Bama, you gotta score 40 plus
