No, you are right. Oklahoma will be the one school who doesn't need elite recruiting classes and you will win national titles. I'm sure it is a coincidence they haven't won one in 20+ years. OR -- they don't get the talent that the elite schools winning titles get.
I'm sure it will get much easier now that Lincoln Riley is in Cali locking down the state and Texas schools are putting kids on their payroll. This is when OU will go to the SEC in a few years and really show them how to play football. Crazy how delusional some fans are.

I actually like Oklahoma. I enjoy watching them play. I'm just stating what they are up against now. Lincoln Riley didn't just screw OU by leaving with the mass exodus of players, but he screwed OU for years to come by shutting down the pipeline to the elite players in Cali.

Ahhh yes -- there is the Nebraska excuse. It is Pelini's fault. It is Riley's fault. It is Frost's fault. I'm on the edge of my seat to hear who the next coach at Nebraska will be blamed.
And it doesn't surprise me that a Nebraska fan wouldn't understand what 'locking it down' means, as I don't think Nebraska fans have seen a 5 star recruit since the 90's. Locking it down means -- keeping all the elite recruits in state, as in the 5 star guys, like the top 50, top 100 type recruits. Like Raleek Brown, like Malachi Nelson, like Makai Lemon, like Zachariah Branch -- all 5 star, top 50 nationally type recruits, all committed to OU at one point, all going to USC now.
Locking it down doesn't mean the won't get a Cali kid -- it means it will be way harder to get the elite recruits. The type you need to have if you want to be national power. Let me rephrase that last part -- the type of recruit everyone else but Nebraska needs to be a national power, because Nebraska fans will tell you it is simply coaching.

Those are schools who CAN put together national title runs if they find the right coach, because they CAN bring in elite recruiting classes. Why? Because they have a ton of elite talent in state.
Oklahoma does not have a ton of elite in state talent. So if a coach like Lincoln Riley can shut down Cali, where OU was getting a ton of elite talent -- that is a huge issue for them. And so you don't go crazy -- shutting down is signing all the 5 star, top 50, top 100 recruits. Essentially the same tging
It is the same reason why Harbaugh is looking to go to the NFL, why Brian Kelly left to go to LSU -- the ceiling for teams like ND and Michigan is only so high because......they lack elite in state talent. Getting to the CFP is the ceiling for those teams and being fodder for the elite programs is it.
I realize you seem to think it is a coincidence that the same handful of teams in talent rich states are winning titles and Nebraska will be the outlier, but you are setting yourself up for disappointment, because it isn't happening, unless the NCAA completely revamps scholarship totals, go to a draft, or some rich alumni decided to buy a recruiting class for a few years.

#HookEmthose schools have all won a more recent national championship and even played for one than Nebraska has. That's the reason why those schools are always just a coach away. tosu has had really good luck in getting good coaches since I can remember. Guess that's how they are able to recruit really well in other areas of the country at an elite level.

You keep talking about the B1G West -- now tell me, in the B1G West, how many of those teams are going to be a national power in today's CFB?
You or I have as much of a chance to assemble a team and win a national title as the teams in the B1G West. If you are saying your coaching is the reason you aren't competing with the other B1G West programs each year. I ABSOLUTELY agree. There is an ASTRONOMICAL difference between competing with the B1G West and competing with the nationally elite programs.
Do I think Nebraska can become a program that can compete year in and year out with Iowa and Wisconsin -- absolutely. Do they have a shot at becoming a national power and competing with Bama, Georgia, LSU, Clemson, Ohio State, now USC (if Riley is able to recruit like he has started at USC) -- no chance at all.
