Thee 2022 Oregon Decommit Thread

it's a loss but these things happen when coaching changes are made.. What's interesting is that Miami with Mario haven't pushed for him at all.. maybe they know it's just too far from SD.

Buyers remorse. Rumor is the new Oregon staff didn’t try very hard to keep him. Mario also didn’t make a strong push to bring him to Miami either

warm doesn't mean anything, I haven't even seen a UM update on him since Dec 28th? You would think he would have had an OV at Miami with the change and all but I don't see that it happened.

Wouldn't say buyers remorse but I honestly think they see what they have down there as of now and are ok with it.. thus not pushing.. Or they feel like the players in the next class, '23, are better takes than him.

SD to Miami is a Long Long trip.. where Norman is just a long trip

so in the end Oregon got the 25th recruiting class per 247sports 22 over all including transfers.
#17 class for ON3

So somewhere between (3-9) and (9-4).

Did they get a Frost or a Pelini in Lanning?
chip kelly got 30th ranked class when he took over. seemed to work out for him

and getting anywhere near this mark with the amount that did decommit and the limited time they had I'll take a let see how this plays out stand

I'm mainly referring to this upcoming season being between (3-9) and (9-3).

Beyond that is yet to be seen, but the odds are against Lanning IMO. The pile of G5 head coaches and P5 coordinator carcasses that took the next step to P5 head coaching positions and failed is deep.
Going to Oregon does give him a step up compared to going to a perennial P5 mediocre program. He'll have the commitment and resources at Oregon from admin.

I'll be watching to see if Georgia takes a step back on defense without him. Was he just a product of Kirby and Muschamp holding his hand, or did he take something away from them to Oregon?

3 and 9 is way to low of a worst case. i would think more like 7-5 to 10-2

Great effort OP, but this thread aged well

25th overall on 247?

Yeah it did.

You brought up recruiting and I commented on recruiting. Don't distract from the facts of this current recruiting class.

Oregon's class is still ranked 12th nationally, now 2nd in the PAC-12. Sure we lost some, but we still have a great class followed by amazing previous classes.

If you can't see that Oregon is rising to the top of the college football world then you are blind and can't evaluate college football. Oregon at it's current status, having NIL now with Nike, it's just a matter of time before we bring home the natty

Oklahoma pulled out of the nosedive a lot better than Oregon did.

You still on the dynasty thing?

Prior to this season, Frost pulled in #20 - #25 classes per 247.

How'd that work for him?
He literally had nothing to sell in living rooms for the 2022 class.

he got a vote of confidence by the new AD, no?? lol

Exactly. If anything just the opposite.

Frost is a lame duck now with players who've never taken a snap in this offense. Literally zero depth or experience.

That's assuming Frost can swallow his pride enough to let Whipple run the show.

The defense is without a doubt going to take a step back. Nakobe Dean, Jordan Davis, Travon Walker and Devonte Wyatt are all potential first rounders to go with Quay Walker, Channing Tindall, Lewis Cine and Derion Kendrick who will all be drafted.

It’s still gonna be a top 10 defense, but it’s gonna take a step back due to talent leaving for the NFL draft. Lanning was a fine DC, but Schumann and Muschamp’s hands were heavily involved too. The step back won’t be due to scheme

We shall see. They've got the quality depth to reload. Next man up!!

It’s still gonna be a fine defense, just not a generational defense like 2021. 2023 and 24 are looking promising though

It'll be interesting. It looks like all of your toughest games except for Oregon St. are at Autzen. That'll help a lot.

Like UGA would agree to go to a shithole like Eugene. They coming to Atlanta and I get to call it a neutral site

Meant to say, all of their toughest games after UGA.

Good to see you admit that SEC teams are afraid to play games outside of the Southeast though.

Just had a H&H with Notre Dame, have futures with Ohio State and UCLA. UGA has played USC 3 times, all were in LA(different times, there was no reason for USC to agree to go to Athens at that time, UGA wasn’t the program back then that it is now)
