Texas A&M boosters paid $30 million for the top-overall 2022 class

Couple interesting statistics that I saw on the Internet highlighting just how much TAMU has taken advantage of NIL:

Must suck to be one of those non-A&M schools that's too poor or stupid to be able to figure out how to do creative accounting. :heh:

I got this from another board but lol.

A lot of aggreement/disaggrement over NIL, but there is no way possible to do this without some shady stuff going on. Good for the players to get their $$$, but come on! I'm sure it'll all work itself out in a year or two Texas does have some pretty friendly NIL laws, but I don't believe NIL was intended to created this?

Sport was declining pretty fast... this should help speed it up even more.

Was really hoping OU would get the Swedish kid

BTW rumors are that Jacoby Matthews got a 4yr/450k deal to sign with aggy. 100k a year and 50k more if he graduates from there.

I think that's a solid number. UTs Clark Field Collective is set to pay every player on the football team 100k a year. Then you have individual deals for specific rooms like the Horns with Heart (pancake factory), which is paying each OL 50k more a year.

So as outlandish as these look on paper, it shows us what the going rate will be.

What is so shady about it?

Actually Texas does not have friendly NIL. You can not sign a Texas HS player to a NIL, until he signs at a University. That was the reason Ewers skipped his senior year of HS..

Ps- #1 TE in Sweden!!

But you can make promises, same as A&M.

You can make promises, but those are non-binding, because you can not put them on paper. I can’t imagine people being dumb enough to sign based on a promise. Promises are the most common commodity in recruiting. You can not make NIL with an individual that stipulates they must attend a school. I agree with Jimbo, the class was not about NIL.

Social media, homie.

Word will spread quickly if schools are promising NIL but not following through after signings. One can also transfer if said school doesn't follow through.

Beating Bama gave A&M a big boost recruiting though.

You don’t sign like 3 of top 5 defensive recruits without a DC with out extraordinary influences.. hell the top DT signed there and Saban stopped recruiting him because he thought his dad was a walking violation. When you see auction kids ending up in one spot, it’s best just to use Occams Razor.

When did Occams Razor get redefined to "stop being so poor"?

It’s not new. I am fine with that. College football is here, because there is no governing body. It isn’t because of NIL. There will always be someone that takes it to a new level.

Yup. Push the line until someone says "enough". I have a feeling this A&M class will be the driver of some entity saying "enough".

It's kinda' fun to see Jimbo bringing FSUx's way of doing things to aTm. He's a little madman....like Saban but without the brains. Eventually, wealthy alums will wake up and thing "wtf am I doing??" The next thing you know, you gots Willie Taggart.
