It's Friday, you ain't got no job, and you ain't got shit to do...

Oh you want to have a successful career? Well you have to go to school and get a degree! It will only cost you $XXX,XXX

But wait, there's more!
School wouldn't cost so much if the student loans weren't available. Schools know they can charge what they do because the banks will lend it, so they do.

Capitalism. We wouldn't have been able to go to school without them, so now we pay the piper.

But not having interest on them over the last two years has been awesome for us since neither of us got our jobs cut. I'm a little nervous about not having a savings account where we consistently have about 4 months of expenses stashed, but our financial planner talked us into it yesterday. Taking away an $1100/month student loan payment that goes right back into our pockets will be nice though.

Yeah that is a good point and very true... But I mean it's not like we didn't pay a shitload of money to get the education without the loans but they do help getting in a school

Interesting take...

But also college these days is like living at a country club. Campuses are ridiculous

Not sure the solution to it, but this is absolutely true. Mr. Kobe and I have spent the last 17 years paying off nearly $400k in student loans. And that was before things are as crazy as they are now. Hopefully by April we'll be free.

My daughter and her husband have beaucoup loans. We talked at length about her going to a private college as opposed to a state college or even the two in town, but no. Of course, she wouldn't have met her husband if it wasn't for the choice she made.

You would put a ribeye like that into a toaster oven?
No. That would go in the oven broiler. I tend to use the toaster oven for seafood and veggies. I'm originally from Wisconsin and grilling season only lasts 7-8 months. You learn to use the tools at hand, burger socks.

2 months ago I would've filed charges against you for a comment like that.
Good luck getting anybody to do anything about them....

I paid mine off years ago and it is the least monumental thing in the world to pay that last payment.

I feel like that is worthy of a party...more so than a gender reveal.

So...thanks college loans for getting these crazy kids together?

My total loans were about 12K and that included two years out-of-state.

Yes, we used typewriters back then.

I love meal planning. I get up early on Saturday mornings and make a weekly plan and a grocery list. It's my happy place.

I like structure in the household in general. I like routines. I treat it like work. Dinners, laundry, dishes, athletics, schoolwork etc everything has a routine. I don’t leave a lot of room for surprises. Weekends and summers are for winging it and letting loose.

You gotta walk on the sunny side of the street.

When I made my last payment it was a lump sum of like $30k. That lifted a ton of weight off our shoulders. This payment in April (mostly likely) will be like $100k. Changes everything for us. Would be down to mortgages on the house and rental and one car loan.

Yeah, we run different in this house.

$30k is so much fucking money! It's like you have been paying a subscription fee to have a career for the last however many years.

Grilling is great, but yes, there are other ways.

A cast iron pan would also do those right.
Im aware of all kinds of ways, I just dont give a fuck about them. Thats the way I was taught to do a good steak, when I worked in a seafood/steak house, and thats the way I like them. Might even grill the lobster tails, but I usually do those in the oven. Broiler pan, with water in it, and brush the tails with butter, and dust with paprika. Finish under the broiler for a minute or two.
