I think Afton Alps and Welch are about equal, but Afton Alps is more expensive if I'm recalling correctly. It is probably a little closer to the Cities depending on where you stay. The chalet is nicer in Afton in my opinion, if that matters to you at all.

We are Welchers. It's a nicely run operation down there in my experience.

Man....imagine if God is that tied to specific language. Would be a real dick move on God's part.
 
Heard back from the officer about possible charges against the moron threatening to kill me. Not exactly sure what the charges will be because that is up to the prosecutor, but sounds like we are looking at a combination of stalking and terroristic threat charges....maybe even felony. I'm hoping he gets arrested and not just sent a summons in the mail because that asshole continued to send me threats over the weekend.

Unfortunately, the HRO still hasn't been served. And no one will notify me when any of this happens, so I just have to keep calling everyday for an update. Gal I talked to said "we don't have the manpower to give notifications". Sure seems like it would be a better use of time to just call me when it is served rather than me taking time out of multiple people's day each day, but what do I know?

Afton's getting ripped to shit about their sale to Vale and I keep looking at the site and like half their lifts have been closed all winter.

I'll be out of town the next two weekends. Sorry we can't meet up.

And yes, the sale had a significant impact on how Afton operated from what I can tell. Welch just got a brand new quad lift this year. And almost all the runs have been open every weekend the last 8 weeks.

Former client of mine has been threatening to kill me for the past 10-ish days. I get to wake up to uplifting emails about getting shot in the head pretty much every other day. It's been uplifting.

They own 40+ resorts and if you frequent any of them, you're probably having a shitty experience this year.

My local hill is owned by them, and it is only opened about 40% of the time it was open in past seasons. They cite "staffing shortages," but in my opinion, they're self-imposed. They pay lift attendants 20% less than other resorts in NE Ohio, and 35% less than Cedar Point pays for seasonal help. They've also imposed an age restriction of 18 to be a lift attendant, as well as a vaccine mandate for all their employees.

Fuck Vail right in the ass.

Yea, watching Afton go back and forth with people in the comments about the vaccine stuff and blaming staffing shortages for not operating at capabity is pretty wild. Afton's near a pretty big metropolitan area, yet places in bumfuck Northern Wisconsin and the UP can get a full staff going. People are roasting the shit out of them about the VAIL thing over and over.
