You obviously don't follow UGA hoops - that's a good thing. We'd put up a statue of him if he did at UGA what he did at UF.He may have been on the verge of getting fired, lol.

UF fans have an inflated opinion of their basketball team. They ain't Kentucky. They had one great, really great run under Donavan. Then White took them to the dance 4 or 5 times. Other than that, in the history of the school, this is what they have done:

UF fans are delusional ... absent getting another Donavan, they will be glad they had the success that White had.
I don't think it is stupid at all. Why should they be a top tier program? Does Gainesville FL have some built in recruiting advantage? Do they have the history like UK, KU, UNC, Duke, that would make people believe that UF has always been great at CBB? No, they have one period of sustained excellence under 2 coaches. No recruit today was alive, or old enough to remember their NCs. None of that is to say that a good coach coming in won't do well ... but a new coach coming into UF v. a new coach coming into Duke or UNC. Do you see the difference? This is kind of stupid, it is like arguing Florida should suck in Football because they were NOT good until Spurrier.
Florida has 2 National Titles now in Basketball and multiple Final Fours. They should be a top tier program.
Um, in the history of CBB there are just nine programs with more National Titles than Florida. (8 if don’t count Pitino winning at Louisville. Which I’m sure everyone scoring at home just gave Michigan that title.)I don't think it is stupid at all. Why should they be a top tier program? First, I said "alive, or old enough to remember," .. it's been 14 years since they won the second NC. That means the players they are currently recruiting are 17 or 18, meaning they were 3 or 4 years old. They don't remember those NCs.Um, in the history of CBB there are just nine programs with more National Titles than Florida. (8 if don’t count Pitino winning at Louisville. And every recruit was alive when Donovan was winning in Gainesville. Unless you’re only recruiting Jr High kids.
No. That’s the thing. You aren’t Florida.First, I said "alive, or old enough to remember," .. it's been 14 years since they won the second NC. That means the players they are currently recruiting are 17 or 18, meaning they were 3 or 4 years old. They don't remember those NCs.
As for the point I was making, I am not trying to take away anything from their back to back natties. It was impressive, obviously. What I was pointing out was that today's UF fans are happy, elated, giddy that we've taken Mike White off their hands. I believe their expectations are not realistic. Mike White took them to the tourney 5 of this 7 years was COY and won the SEC 3 or 4 years ago. To them, that wasn't enough. I can't fault a team that has won 2 NCs for wanting more, and to that extent I understand where they are coming from. But what I was trying to say is it's not like UF is a program like UNC, Duke, or Kansas that is recognized as a top hoops program. If you look at their program historically, Donavan and White over-performed - UF was truly terrible before Donovan came on board - regularly bottom half of the SEC, 5 tournament appearances, two of which are off the books for cheating. Who do they think is going to come in and make them back into what Donovan had? Why? Is Gainesville FL this desirable location? Do they have a hotbed of recruits? FWIW, while Florida is 3rd in then umber of hoops recruits, it isn't like football where Florida, Georgia and Texas dominate and they have a huge recruiting advantage (and they have to compete in-state with FUS and Miami, both of whom play pretty good hoops). College recruits are from all over (The Geography of College Basketball's Top Recruits). Do they expect to get a big name coach who will leave what program to go to UF? Or are they going to hire another mid-major coach and hope they do better than White was doing?
Look, UGA is simply terrible at hoops. We are basically UF without the success of Donovan and White. Durham had some good years when I was there that included a Final Four, but in general they have been terrible. We are glad to have White and if he does what he did at UF, we will be elated. I'll be really interested to see who UF gets that it better than White, and whether their elation today is justifed.
Well let’s all hope he can drag UGAs program down, like he did at UF. Quite a challenge since the dwags are already terrible. We'd put up a statue of him if he did at UGA what he did at UF.

It’s a one-off. Still woulda kicked OSUs ass. They do suck in football now
Damn dawgie. Leave that lawyer length rebuttal for the courthouse. You are talking to us dimwitted morons ya know. We can only handle simple replies like “U R full of shit”, “ yo momma”, etc.First, I said "alive, or old enough to remember," .. it's been 14 years since they won the second NC. You breath out of your mouthThere’s no greater insult in college sports than being called a roundball school

SEC is decent in basketball. OU and UTa strengthen the conference. So which football power also has had good basketball? OU has historically been solid. 3 National Players of the year in Blake Griffin, Buddy Hield, and Trey Young. Multiple final four appearances. Texas has been good but OU holds a big lead vs them head to head and has more tourney wins. OU beat Arkansas and Florida this year and should improve the SEC as a basketball league.
